Beyonce Birthday: Gossip Cop Blows Out 5 Rumors In Singer’s Honor
Beyonce turns 35 on Sunday. To celebrate the singer’s birthday, Gossip Cop is looking back at five wrong rumors we exclusively “blew out” about Beyonce over the last year.
Just days after celebrating her last birthday, In Touch published a cover story that blared, “Beyonce Shocker: Divorce Announcement.” Nearly 365 days ago the tabloid claimed, “The marriage is over,” because Beyonce was “dumping husband Jay Z. Of course, Gossip Cop reported the story was untrue, and time has proven us right once again.
Then in January, The Sun claimed Beyonce was so desperate to win an Oscar, she was a writing and planning to star in a movie about Saartje Baartman, a South African woman who was forced against her will to appear in European “freak shows” during the 1800s because of her large rearend. Numerous outlets picked up the story about Baartman, who’s stage name was Hottentot Venus. But a rep for the singer exclusively told Gossip Cop, “Beyonce is not connected to this project, but this is a very important story to be told.”
In the midst of more inaccurate articles about Beyonce and Jay Z divorcing, the National Enquirer alleged, “Jay Z’s sensing a mega-chill in his marriage after Beyonce suddenly shocked him, and the entire family, by hinting that she’s re-hiring estranged dad Mathew Knowles to manage her empire again.” But, as Gossip Cop stated back then, Beyonce did not re-hire her father. At the time, our impeccable insider debunked the tabloid’s story by sniping, “Look who the source is.”
In May, MediaTakeOut reported that Beyonce “flirted” with NFL star Odell Beckham Jr. at the Met Gala. The webloid alleged “multiple eyewitnesses” told the site, “Beyonce was spotted canoodling with [the] NY Giants star.” “This is not rumor, it’s fact,” added the outlet. Actually, Gossip Cop investigated, and the story wasn’t even rumored, it was completely made up. A Beyonce pal told us the claim was entirely false.
And Life & Style reported in May that Beyonce was pregnant. The tabloid wrote, “Beyonce had been all set to file for divorce, but she called it off,” after finding out about her “pregnancy shocker.” Here’s what wasn’t a shocker: Beyonce was not pregnant. An insider told Gossip Cop when we corrected the publication four months ago that the pregnancy claim was a lie.
Gossip Cop is fairly certain that the year ahead will be similarly be filled with false reports about Beyonce both professionally and personally. But we’ll be here to debunk those untrue stories. For now, Gossip Cop wishes Beyonce a happy and rumor-free birthday!
