Happy Birthday Beyonce! Gossip Cop Blows Out 5 Wrong Rumors About Singer
Beyonce turns 34 on Friday, and to celebrate her birthday, Gossip Cop is looking back at five really wrong rumors from the past year that we exclusively blew out about the singer.
The most recent Beyonce rumor that Gossip Cop debunked was an absurd claim by outlets such as Complex, Dazed and Metro, among others, that the singer and Jay Z were planning to buy the rights to the Confederate flag. The story was made up by a parody site, and then debunked by Gossip Cop because we were the first outlet to fact-check the claim.
In April, we corrected MediaTakeout when it alleged that Beyonce was “caught canoodling” with David Guetta at Coachella. The story and so-called concert “eyewitness” were completely fabricated. That same month, we busted Life & Style for reporting Beyonce was feuding with Rihanna. Gossip Cop was told exclusively by a source close to both women that they are actually “extremely friendly.” The tabloid’s claim was merely for the sake of stirring up nonexistent drama.
When The Big Short author Michael Lewis was interviewed on “CBS This Morning” this past March, he mentioned that he believed Beyonce was co-starring in the upcoming movie adaptation alongside Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, Steve Carell and Christian Bale. The author was mistaken, however, and Gossip Cop was the first to report that Beyonce had not been cast in the film. A rep for Beyonce and a source at Paramount Pictures confirmed only to Gossip Cop that she’s wasn’t joining the project.
And finally, we exclusively busted an In Touch cover story, which featured the wholly inaccurate headline, “Beyonce & Jay Z Split!” The outlet falsely accused the rapper of having an affair. A source close to the situation exclusively assured Gossip Cop that the Beyonce and Jay Z divorce rumors were “ridiculous and desperate.”
Gossip Cop sincerely wishes Beyonce a happy and rumor-free birthday!
