Bethenny Frankel Slams Charlie Sheen For Latest HIV Interview Comments
As Gossip Cop reported, Sheen granted an interview on Wednesday to RadarOnline, and was asked whether he ever considered committing suicide after finding out he has the disease. The actor responded that he would never kill himself, noting that it wasn’t something he ever contemplated in his life before or after the diagnosis. On Thursday morning, Frankel linked to the Gossip Cop story on Sheen’s interview, and tweeted, “Well maybe the women you had unprotected sex with did…”
Frankel seemed to be suggesting that Sheen confessing to having HIV after having unprotected sex likely devastated these unsuspecting women’s lives to the point where they might become suicidal. Her remark received plenty of mixed feedback, with one follower tweeting to Frankel, “That’s an absolutely vile thing to say,” adding, “Comments like that achieve nothing beneficial, your just fuelling [sic] the HIV stigma.”
The “Real Housewives Of New York City” star replied, “I respectfully disagree. I don’t kiss someone if I have a cold. This is a basic concept. Don’t make this about something else.” Other fans expressed agreement with Frankel’s statement, such as the person who tweeted to her, “What Charlie Sheen did is more vile than words!”
