An absurd new tabloid report claims Ben Stiller’s 17-year marriage to Christine Taylor ended because he hooked up with Brandi Glanville in the ’90s. Gossip Cop, however, can exclusively debunk this story.

During an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” in February 2016, the actor confirmed rumors he had an old fling with the former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast member. “It was a couple of dates and fun,” Stiller divulged. “I’m not sure my wife is even aware of that.” Of course, the hookup went down around 20 years ago and well before he and Taylor began dating. Regardless, the National Enquirer is now claiming that Stiller’s years-old casual romance caused his recent separation.

The magazine contends that Taylor was shocked by her husband’s admission on the Bravo talk show and “began to question what else he was holding back.” A supposed “source” tells the magazine, “This whole Brandi thing pretty much detonated the split. The marriage has been plague with problems over the past five years. But now telling her about such a low-rent fling was horrifying for Christine, especially since Brandi blabbed about the hookup too. It brought all their trust issues to the surface again.”

Despite how ridiculous this all sounds, Gossip Cop still checked in with a reliable source close to the situation, who exclusively assures us the estranged spouses’ marriage didn’t end because Stiller had a brief dalliance with Glanville two decades ago. Unfortunately, we’ve had to debunk a number of bogus tabloid stories in the wake of the actor’s split from his wife.

Gossip Cop recently called out the Enquirer for falsely claiming Stiller hired people to spy on Taylor while they were still together because he didn’t trust her around other men. We also busted the outlet’s sister publication, Star, for wrongly reporting Stiller constantly accused his wife of cheating during their marriage. This latest article about the actor’s separation is equally unfounded.
