MAG: Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner “Fighting” Over Jennifer Lopez Casting
What’s the alleged problem? Well, the tabloid says Garner has been “begging” Affleck for a part in his potential adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand, but he’s “refusing her wishes.” A so-called “insider” explains, “He wants to keep his family life and directing career separate.”
But things got ugly when Affleck “readily agreed to hire” Lopez for the project. “Ben wants to assemble a killer cast for this big-budget film,” says the Star source. “It’s been getting a lot of hype, and he can’t ignore [Lopez’s] recently revived star power.”
The news allegedly caused Garner “to hit the roof,” because she fears the possible impact of Lopez and Affleck reuniting, even if it’s only professional. Star writes that she and Affleck “have had a continuously rocky marriage since they wed in 2005, but for [Garner], dealing with ‘Bennifer’ being back in the headlines again might just be too annoying to handle.” Uh-huh.
We know that Star would love to see “Bennifer” return, and would probably like to see some drama in Affleck’s relationship with Garner. But there’s no truth to the story of Lopez and Garner competing for The Stand, or Garner and Affleck fighting about possible casting. A source close to Affleck says Star is “more science fiction than truth” and tells Gossip Cop the tab’s latest story is “fake.”
