Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner did NOT have a “showdown” at Sunday night’s Oscars, despite an inaccurate webloid report. Gossip Cop can bust this claim.

As Gossip Cop reported, Garner broke her silence about her impending divorce from Affleck in the March 2016 issue of Vanity Fair. In the very candid cover story, the actress opened up about rumors of her estranged husband’s alleged cheating, co-parenting with the actor, and much more. Notably, she said in the interview that Affleck was “the love of my life.”

Yet, RadarOnline describes the interview as “scathing” and alleges Garner “ripped into [Affleck].” Contrary to the webloid’s representation, the actress also expressed in Vanity Fair that she in no way regrets marrying Affleck, and further described him as “the most brilliant person in any room, the most charismatic, the most generous.”

Naturally, Garner and Affleck’s appearances at the Vanity Fair Oscars party, following the awards ceremony on Sunday, led the webloid to claim there was a confrontation between them. A so-called “eyewitness” is quoted as saying that when the two initially spotted each other, “Ben didn’t even come over to say hello!” The site’s dubious source further alleges Affleck eventually “sheepishly’ approached Garner and “gave her a hug, but she was super cold and left right afterward.” “They had ignored each other for almost two hours prior to that,” adds the inaccurate source.

Here’s what’s true about RadarOnline’s story: Affleck and Garner ran into each other at the Vanity Fair Oscars party. Here’s what’s false: Everything else. An actual source tells People that the ex-couple “shared a friendly hug and a kiss” when they saw each other, and Garner even complimented his suit. The legit insider, based on our fact-checking, describes the interaction as a “nice moment where they caught up.” Simply put, there was no Oscars party “showdown” between the couple, and the webloid’s report is simply fabricated.

Of course, Gossip Cop has repeatedly corrected the online outlet for creating rumors about Affleck and Garner following their split last year. We recently busted the site’s bogus claim that the ex-couple had gotten back together and she was pregnant with his child. The webloid’s latest claim about a supposed Oscars altercation is equally false.
