Ben Affleck To Direct “Live By Night” This Fall, First Movie After Jennifer Garner Split
According to Variety, Affleck will direct Live By Night, a long-delayed project with Warner Bros., beginning in November. Pre-production is expected to take place through the summer. Gossip Cop has reached out for confirmation.
Live By Night is a film adaptation of the 2012 book of the same name by Dennis Lehane. The crime story takes place in the era of Prohibition, and while Affleck has the lead role, he’s also rounded up an A-list cast to join him. In addition to himself, Sienna Miller, Elle Fanning, and Zoe Saldana are all set to star.
And beyond starring and directing, Affleck is also signed on as a producer alongside Leonardo DiCaprio. The film has been in the works since before Affleck filmed Gone Girl and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and is now coming to fruition after he wrapped The Accountant earlier this year. Live By Night will not only be Affleck’s first directing gig since the Oscar-winning Argo three years ago, but it will also be his first movie project since splitting with Garner.
As Gossip Cop has reported, the couple announced last week that they are divorcing. At the same time they released their divorce statement, the stars were in the Bahamas with their children. Now they’re in Atlanta, where Garner is filming Miracles From Heaven, and Affleck is living in a guest house on the property where Garner is staying in order to be with their kids.
As they expressed a desire to co-parent, it’s possible Affleck’s new plans mean Garner won’t be filming anything this fall. First up, though, Affleck is expected make his first official post-split appearance at Comic-Con this weekend to promote Batman v Superman. Gossip Cop will continue to have updates.
