Ben Affleck And Charlize Theron NOT In “Shocking Romance,” Despite Report
Ben Affleck and Charlize Theron are NOT in a “shocking romance,” despite a new tabloid cover story. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust the report. We’re told the article is a product of both sensationalism and fabrication.
Wednesday’s new issue of OK! hit newsstands with the announcement that Affleck and Theron are in a “shocking” and “secret romance.” The accompanying story declares, “Sixteen years after their first flirtation, Ben Affleck and Charlize Theron are finally able to see where their incredible chemistry will lead them.” After claiming the two first “bonded” on the set of the 2000 movie Reindeer Games, it’s said “the idea that they might get together was strictly fantasy… until now, that is.”
“Simultaneously single at last, the A-list duo recently reconnected at a post-Oscars party,” alleges the magazine, “and now they’re poised to embark on a secret romance.” That’s right. After making it initially seem like Affleck and Theron are already a new couple, the article actually goes on to speculate that maybe… possibly… they could end up getting together.
With a so-called “source” noting how they “could finally flirt freely” on Oscar night but “kept their exchange outwardly low-key” because Jennifer Garner was also in attendance, OK! writes, “Now everyone in their circles who saw them that night is speculating about when and how a relationship will develop.” Conveniently, though, the supposed snitch adds, “Neither of them wants a relationship to be made public… It’ll be their little secret as long as possible.”
Right. Here’s what seems to be going on: OK! obtained a single picture of Affleck and Theron both exiting the Vanity Fair Oscars bash at the same time. Though they were surrounded by other people and not even walking together, the tabloid ridiculously asserts that his eye-line proves he “checked her out.” There’s no other photos of their supposed interaction, but knowing that both are single and they once worked on a movie together, the gossip rag saw fit to link them in a new “romance,” and tried to cover itself by insisting it’s just under the radar.
It’s incredibly transparent, and a work of fiction based around the slimmest of facts. But here’s a really big one: A source close to Affleck exclusively tells Gossip Cop that this romance report is “so incorrect.” Mind you, OK! is the same outlet that ran a cover story last September falsely claiming Affleck had “called off” his divorce with Garner because she was “pregnant.” Enough said.
