WATCH: Bel Ami Official Full Trailer

TRAILER

(Magnolia)

Robert Pattinson beds most of 1890s Paris in Bel Ami, and a new full-length trailer for the film debuted on Tuesday.

Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas play some of Pattinson’s female foils in the movie, which is a study of seduction and ambition.

Pattinson does not shoot himself in the hand in this one.

Bel Ami opens in June.

Looks better than his usual films, but then again that isn’t saying much. I’ll see it though because I’m in love with Uma Thurman and Christina Ricci.

  • JessMarie414

    Looks good. Can’t wait!

  • Ryan

I’m sorry but Bel Ami looks way too similar to Cosmopolis. It’s basically the same plot: guy sleeping around to better himself. I’ll pass.

  • Anonymous

It’s not the same. Trust me. I read both books.

  • DowntonTart

I love period pieces. All the better when they’ve got eye candy like Mr. Pattinson too! Hope it will be as good as the book. *Squee*

  • Chloe

I agree completely. Maybe if he filmed them in different years they wouldnt seem so similar. As it is I will probably see Cosmopolis but not Bel Ami.

  • Anonymous

Im sorry but this is not a new trailer, it’s been out for a while. Keep it up!

  • Chloe

WOW! Looks good very close to the book from what I can tell so far.

  • pixie1824

He’s not sleeping around to better himself in Cosmopolis. He’s already filthy rich. It’s a totally different story.

  • D. Martin

I read Bel Ami but not Cosmopolis — yet. I should read it soon. Still looks good.

  • Karen

You have no idea what you’re talkin about. True, Pattinson is in both of them and sleeps with more that one woman in both. Otherwise, they are two completely different stories. Cosmopolis is a wild ride BTW.

  • Ryan

I have no idea what I’m talking about? All I said was that the plots were similar in that he sleeps around in each of the movies… Which you agree to in your comment.

Next time think before you type.

  • Lindsay

This is the same trailer we have been seeing. Way to get my hopes up GC!

  • Ec

    blabla

  • suefromnc

Wow! How low can you go!!!??

  • mClover

In BelAmi he did sleep around to better himself.

But in Cosmopolis, he’s not sleeping around to better himself! He’s a Billionaire who gets jaded with his life and goes on a trip to get a haircut! In between he does sleep with a women.

But you can’t seriously say they are th same!

You shouldn’t comment if you havn’t read those books.

Just because the trailer shows him in bed with women it does not mean it’s the same thing.

You should think before you type!

  • Anonymous

They WERE filmed in different years. Bel Ami was actually filmed a few years ago–they had trouble getting a distributor, which is why it took so long for trailers for it to start showing up.

  • Lisa

I have a feeling both movies will be flops …

  • Elizabeth

So now a person cant comment on a movie unless they have read the book first? Wow, take a chill pill already. What Ryan said is true. Rob’s characters in each movie sleeps around. Each trailer shows him in bed with different women. i.e. that’s what sleeping around is. Yes, the movies are similar. It’s not the end of the world.

  • Elizabeth

That’s true. I think Chloe actually meant when the films were released (instead of filmed) though.

  • Karen

Thanks for replying to Ryan who only reads parts/halves of other people’s comments.

  • Insatnlf

The plot is not the same, which he (Ryan) implied. Sex scenes can be found in almost all movies, but it does not mean that they are all the same beacause of that. Never judge the PLOT of a film by its trailer. Hardly ever does it work.

  • Insat

Nope. He has sex scenes with either one or more women in his different films (and not in all of his films) – his characters do not always sleep around. Second, yes, he has sex scenes with different movies with different women, beacuse he acts in them with different women. Do you people really have to distort facts and generalize about everything?

  • Elise

Sure, in your limited world, all movies where people have sex are exactly the same. How dumb are you? Bel Ami takes place in 1895, Cosmopolis is near present day. In BA, Georges DuRoy is a penniless social climber who sleeps his way to the top of the Parisian society. In Cosmopolis, Eric Packer is a bored millionaire who’s already at the top. Aside from some sex, the films have no other similarities.

But congratulations on showing your ignorance and wasting everyone’s time with a useless comment. This Bel Ami trailer looks gorgeous, I can’t wait to see it.

Rob looks so sexy in this, even covered in all those clothes. His scenes with Christina Ricci make up for the boring honeymoon in BD. This movie earns its R rating, thank goodness. The dvd is going to be a huge seller.

  • Anonymous

Well then, If I were you, I wouldn’t go see either one if I thought that. Nothing flops on Rob for he has too many fans who support his movies. Don’t judge until you see for yourself.

  • Chloe

    @Karen,

You are taking this way too seriously. Not every single person has read the books. Ryan was making a general statement about the movies when he said they were way too similar and that Rob’s character in each sleeps around. Which is true. He didn’t go into the “inner workings” of each of the books to describe how they are the same. He was making a point. You don’t have to go all crazy obsessed fan on people who don’t agree with your opinions.

  • Chloe

You need a reality check. Rob has three movies coming out this year. Two of which he sleeps around in. Therefore they are similar. Ryan didn’t say that they were exactly the same, he said that they were similar. Calling someone dumb for stating a correct comment is the highlight of ignorance. It’s not like he stated all the reasons that the two movies were exactly alike. He said they were similar because Rob’s character sleeps around in each of the movies. Which is true.

  • Chloe

Yes, I apologize. I did mean released not filmed.

  • AllThatGlittersIsGold

I can’t wait to see this movie! I’m probably going to have to watch it when it’s released on PPV because it probably won’t be shown where I live. But that’s better because I’ll be able to record it and watch it over and over again!

  • AllThatGlittersIsGold

I agree somewhat. If you just look at the trailer for each of the films Rob’s characters do look similar. Then when you add the backstory and the time it was set in the differences shine through. I can’t wait to see both of them! Cosmopolis and On the Road both premiering at Cannes is a dream come true!

  • AllThatGlittersIsGold

Even the best actors have flops. It depends on the distribution. Right now Bel Ami has been released internationally but it has only made around $600,000. If it only gets indie distribution in the US it will only be released in a limited number of theaters. Considering it had a budget of $11 million it would need at least double that to not be considered a flop. Hopefully it doesn’t flop but if it does it’s not the end of the world.

  • AllThatGlittersIsGold

Maybe you should learn the definition to similar.

    Similar-
    resembling without being identical.

Ryan didn’t say the movies were exactly the same, he said Rob’s characters were similar because they each sleep around… Ummm, that’s correct.

  • AllThatGlittersIsGold

    Then don’t watch them

  • Anonymous

The foreign box office has not updated…it has made close to $2M.

  • Anonymous

    Ah. Okay.

  • Anonymous

Oh, okay. I apologize, as well.

  • Anonymous

WARNING! Pattinson does not shoot himself in the hand in this one.

I like your jokes, GC, especially this one.

  • Chloe

    No problem ;-)

  • Gwen

I have a feeling Lisa is a troll who’s a fan of a lousy actress and can’t stand to see Rob’s star shining brighter than anyone elses. Too bad for her he’s wildly popular and doing daring films like Cosmopolis and he didn’t just go for more attention by signing on to do another teen franchise.

He’s his own man, as this year will show everyone who had any doubt. He’s burning up the screen with beautiful, talented actresses in Bel Ami and the audiences so far are loving it.
