Rapper Beanie Sigel Shot And Taken To Hospital in New Jersey
Beanie Sigel was shot on Friday morning after an altercation at a home in Pleasantville, New Jersey. According to local police, the Philadelphia-based rapper received a gunshot wound to his stomach and was taken to the Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for surgery. Sigel’s condition is currently unknown.
Police took an unidentified man into custody after chasing a car that seemed to be involved with the shooting. Another man was also injured during the incident but refused medical treatment. There is no word on why Sigel, whose real name is Dwight Grant, was in Pleasantville.
Sigel was released from federal prison in August after serving a two-year sentence for tax evasion and has been on home-confinement since September 25. Officials confirmed that he was wearing a monitoring bracelet on his ankle at the time of the shooting. As Gossip Cop previously reported, the rapper was arrested on drug and weapons charges in Philadelphia in 2012, just two weeks before he was set to begin his two-year prison sentence for failing to file taxes amounting to roughly $728,000. Sigel was also shot in 2006 during a robbery in Philadelphia. Gossip Cop will be back with updates.
