‘Baywatch’ Trailer: Dwayne Johnson And Zac Efron Star In First Teaser
The big-screen installment of the popular TV series that originally premiered in 1989 is an R-rated action/comedy in the vein of 21 Jump Street. The reboot comes from the director of Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief, and also co-stars Alexandra Daddario, Priyanka Chopra, Kelly Rohrbach, Charlotte McKinney and Hannibal Buress. Additionally, original cast members Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff will make cameo appearances.
In the film, Johnson stars as Mitch Buchanan, a by-the-books lifeguard who must team up with young hothead Matt Brody (Efron) to stop an oil tycoon from destroying their beach. Both Johnson and Efron teased the release of the trailer on social media prior to its debut. The wrestler-turned-actor referred to the movie as the “Bad boy Rated R version” and added the hashtags “#AvengersOfTheBeach #AndHighlyDysfunctional.” Meanwhile, Efron said, “Excited to unleash the BEACH.”
Johnson is very proud of the movie’s R-rating and has previously taken to Twitter to assure audiences they’re in for some very adult humor. He previously wrote, “Our movie will be big, fun and RATED R. Like me when I drink. It’s BIG.” He added, “Me and bud @ZacEfron been talkin’ bout this one for a long time. And someone get my baby oil. Shirtless heaven and bikini dreams. And some good ol’ fashion ‘this is my beach bitch’ RATED R humor.” Baywatch hits theaters May 26, 2017. Watch the movie’s first teaser trailer below!
