“Battle: Los Angeles” Conquers Box Office [UPDATE]

Battle: Los Angeles easily won this weekend’s box office war.
The alien invasion film, starring Aaron Eckhart, earned $36 million.
In second place with $23.1 million was last week’s top film, the Johnny Depp-voiced animated lizard film, Rango.
Red Riding Hood, starring Amanda Seyfried and directed by Twilight‘s Catherine Hardwicke, placed third with $14 million.
The Adjustment Bureau ($11.5 million) and the new, animated Disney film Mars Needs Moms ($6.8 million) took fourth and fifth places.
Rounding out the Top Ten are Beastly ($5.1 million), Hall Pass ($5.1 million), Just Go With It ($4 million), The King’s Speech ($3.5 million) and Gnomeo & Juliet ($3.5 million).
