Barbra Streisand performed at the Oscars on Sunday for the first time in 36 years.

The music legend sang one of her classic songs, “The Way We Were,” as part of the “In Memoriam” tribute, which included her close friend Marvin Hamlisch.

Streisand’s last performance on the Academy Awards stage was in 1977, the same year she won the Oscar for Best Original Song for “Evergreen” from A Star Is Born.

Just beautiful – such a good singer.Wanted to see her this past summer at the Hollywood Bowl, but the tickets were way out of my price range.

The song isn’t “Memories”, it’s “The Way We Were”.

Sorry I can’t stand this woman!

    How sad to be you!

  • how annoying

who the heck writes an article like this but doesn’t even know what the name of the song is???

For being 70 yrs. old Barbra still has a great voice and looks amazing.

As I get older, this is the kind of singing that I just adore. I love the sophistication of the melody, lyrics, intonation, peacefulness, etc. in the way she sings it and just everything.

I love this woman because she didn’t let Hollywood rule her life. She did what was suitable for her and when she wanted or needed too. This is a woman who knows/knew how to handle the craziness of Hollywood. Love everything about her and proud of her as being a woman.

There are very, very few people who have such “golden talent.” Her singing voice and the way she uses it while interpreting the song she sings have few equals, maybe: Garland’s, Piaf’s? So now at 70, she has a little smokey texture to some notes, should we “drown the cat?” I saw her in Las Vegas last fall, she was in great form. She was never flat or sharp in any song. She still holds a note like a 20 year old and was just a little smokey a couple of times. She is still “the Greatest Star!” I love her talent and her music and I hope there are still wonderful things to come from her in the future.

I always loved Barbara she has one of the best voices. The way we were is definitely her
signature song. Never gets old. She highlights every event. Adele is also a favorite by
many viewers. The only thing that I have noticed that both women wear dresses that are
more appropriate for older women and are kind of old fashion. The two should put more
color and up to date in their clothing. A wow would follow.

Wonderful performance from a wonderful performer…great tribute to Marvin Hamlisch and brings back great memories of the film of the same name…. good times. Ms Streisand is a class act…..even at 70!!

Totally agree – I like the “smokey texture”!!

I was truly pleased with the tribute to Marvin Hamlisch. I was personally overseeing ground transportation for him and Ms. Blair during his latest tour when he passed and his loss certainly stunned me. He was full of life and although we knew he was ill he kept pushing forward. To be speaking with him one day, and hear the news the next was shocking and I was so grateful that the academy made this tribute a little extra special for him. I’m sure he was smiling down as Bab’s sang to him…

Barbra still sends chills up my spine when she sings! Best voice I have ever heard…..ever! And she is beautiful and a class act. She is the epitome of what Hollywood should be.
