Barbra Streisand Opens Up In Interview With Jimmy Fallon On Tonight Show, Sings “Come Rain Or Come Shine” (VIDEOS)
Jimmy Fallon and Barbra Streisand switched places on Monday’s “Tonight Show,” with the legendary singer sitting at the desk and the talk show host on the guest couch. Fallon insisted she take his spot “because you’re never coming back.”
It was Streisand’s first appearance on the “Tonight Show” in 50 years. She and Fallon talked during the interview about when she was on the show five decades ago. Streisand told Fallon that the former “Tonight Show” host Jack Paar didn’t like her, so her first appearance actually took place when Orson Bean was filling in as a substitute host.
Fallon confessed to the icon that he was terrified to have her as a guest on the show. “I was afraid you were going to be more of a nightmare,” he noted. “I’ve got to be honest. I thought a diva was coming in. But you came on time. You were very polite to my crew. You came to rehearsal. You are nice to everybody. What have you done to Barbra Streisand?”
He continued, “You are the one person who is allowed to be the diva of all divas! We can change the temperature of the room and the lights, and we will still love you.” Streisand denied the rumors that she is a diva and claimed that she is “quite ordinary.” She went on to say that she leads a “very simple life with her husband James Brolin. “We don’t really like the big time stardom thing,” she said. “We stay home most of the time, or we take little trips in our truck.”
Streisand also opened up about her personal life, her “tush,” working with other singers, and much, much more. She later sang “Come Rain Or Come Shine.” Video is no longer available.
