One Direction, Chris Martin, Ed Sheeran And More In Band Aid 30 Video — WATCH!
One Direction, Chris Martin, Ed Sheeran and more are featured in the new Band Aid 30 song and video, “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” The world premiere took place on Sunday’s “The X Factor UK.” Watch below.
The project was recorded in London on Saturday, with Rita Ora, Sam Smith, Marcus Mumford, Ellie Goulding, Bono, Sinead O’Connor, Seal, Olly Murs, Bastille, Disclosure, Paloma Faith, Robert Plant, Emeli Sande, Jessie Ware and more. Each act took on a few lyrics, which were modified to address the Ebola crisis in Africa.
Organized by Bob Geldof, the original Band Aid supergroup was formed 30 years ago (hence the new name), as a charity endeavor for poverty-stricken Ethiopia. “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” was released in 1984, featuring the voices of Geldof, Phil Collins, Sting and more, including Bono. Just like the original project all those years ago, Band Aid 30 got together at Sarm West Studios in Notting Hill. There was also a Band Aid recording in 1989, and a Band Aid 20 formed in 2004.
Proceeds from the new track, which will be available on iTunes on Monday, will go to fighting the Ebola virus disease in West Africa. Footage from the recording session was used in the accompanying music video. Check it out below, along with others featuring clips from outside the studio and the previous projects.
