Busting bad dish!

Bam Margera Blasts Roger Ebert About Ryan Dunn Drunk Driving Comment

Truth rating: 10

(GettyImages)

Bam Margera, who was silent for most of the day as he grieved the sudden loss of his friend and Jackass costar Ryan Dunn, has now lashed out at film critic Roger Ebert.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, Ebert bluntly tweeted, “Friends don’t let jackasses drink and drive.”

Margera used the same social media to blast back at Ebert.

He tweeted, “I just lost my best friend, I have been crying hysterical for a full day and piece of s**t roger ebert has the gall to put in his 2 cents about a jackass drunk driving and his (sic) is one, f**k you! Millions of people are crying right now, shut your fat f**king mouth!”

No one condones drunk driving, of course, although several observers shared Margera’s view that Ebert’s comment was uttered a little too soon.

While Dunn was indeed photographed drinking just hours before the crash, police did not mention alcohol in this morning’s report, although they noted that speed may have been a contributing factor.

Earlier, Jackass stars Johnny Knoxville and Steve-O also took to Twitter to share their feelings of sadness and loss.

    I honestly don’t think “millions” of people are crying right now, but it is sad that someone lost their life doing something so careless as driving while drinking. I think Mr. Ebert did share his thoughts a bit too soon, but I don’t think he was being malicious. I think he was saying that others should not have let him drive in his condition.

    Roger Ebert said what millions of us were thinking! What I think is really sad is Ryan Dunn also killed his passenger, a 30 year production assistant who worked on the last Jackass movie. What does Bam think about that? Drinking and driving is effing foolish…Bam should angry at his friend Dunn and not Roger Ebert.

    i agree with roger. ryan was a grown man who knew that she should not have been driving after a night of heavy drinking. you can’t deny the fact that it was heavy when he himself posted pictures of himself drinking. stupid people doe stupid things all the time but when you add alcohol in the mix then you get death. dont care that hes gone but the passenger is a question. why would she get into the car with him when he had been drinking.

    No, Ebert did not post this TOO SOON. Maybe Dunn was not drunk, we will not know this for awhile, the police could not say anything about alcohol because he was already dead-they could not observe or test for alcohol! The Pathologist will have to do it, and since a passenger died, they will be doing it-in case the passenger’s relatives sue for wrongful death. The police could, because of what the car did, tire marks, etc. make assumptions about speed. Bam, he is working off of emotion, and yes, he is thinking they are more popular then they are, but I have no idea if he is smart enough to realize that Ebert might be working off of emotion too. Maybe someone in his family was killed by a drunk driver? Or scarred for life? I was in a near fatal accident 14 years ago. Things were covered up about the accident, because of who hit me, but I was told later he had alcohol on his breath and stumbled around. He was taken to another hospital, never tested and released. I almost died, was in the hospital a month and have no memory of the accident, lost part of my memory incuding most of my nusing info, but that did not matter, I was no longer able to work. I look alright, but days I can’t get out of bed, and am on SSI, a small % of what I would earn as a nurse. So, yes, I might have done what Mr. Ebert did. Yes, when I was really young, I did drink too much and drove, and wished someone had stopped me, and I would have given the keys over. I stopped drinking early on, when I realized how stupid it was, almost a decade before my accident. I am normally not around drinkers, but I do not let people drink and drive and am QUITE OUTSPOKEN ABOUT IT. Was before I was in my accident. I applaud Mr. Ebert. Like I said, I do not know if he was affected by drinking, but he has and still is affected by cancer. That might have been it, a life changing incident. Dunn by had been worshiped for his ‘jackass’ ways, but he drove like a jackass Monday morning, and soon, we will find out whether alcohol and drunks played a part. It certainly looks like speed played a part. If he wanted to kill himself, FINE. But he had a passenger, a prod. assistant? who we probably could assume did not want to die that early morning and did not have a choice sitting in the passenger seat. Too bad she made that choice to get into that passenger seat.

    Sorry, this is EXACTLY the time to say this. Far too many people drink and drive and do stupid shit that endangers others. Fuck YOU Bam. Never any responsibility on your end. Responsibility is soooo boring but it keeps people breathing so they can watch your shows.

    how was it heavy drinking? 6 drinks in 4 hours

    Suppose you lost a friend who was as close as a brother to you. Bam probably is angry about what he did and what people in general are saying about Ryan. He was a decent man in spite of his drinking. People do drink and and some do drive while under the influence and are just plain lucky. People all around push their luck every day, probably people in your family and people you know. Don’t forget that he also killed himself.
    Roger Egert did speak too soon and made a bigger issue out of it. 2 people are dead, that is enough. Try to have empathy for someone who has lost a close person to him. Regardless of what happened, a loss is a loss of someone you love. I would like to see what you would do in this kind of condition and it’s someone like a family member who got killed that you loved. I bet you can’t really say what you would do. People are only human.

    i am appalled that so many seem to be supporting the statements of a douche bag film critic with poor taste. I obviously am not in any way condoning drunk driving, Drinking and driving is always a bad idea. But we do not know if ryan dunn was drunk yet, comments about drunk driving should be reserved for when the test results come in and are released to the public. perhaps he was not drunk but showing off for his friend in his awesome sports car and something went wrong. the jackass crew obviously love showing off, so this is a possibility. perhaps he swerved to miss a deer and simply lost control. i will admit that the fact that it is known that he was at the bar before hand is not a god sign, but the conflicting reports on how much he was drinking and when his last drink was lead me to believe it is best to wait and learn the facts before commenting. also, it is sad that there was a passenger in the car who also died, but it is the passengers fault that he was there, not ryan dunn’s. The passenger was a grown man, 30 years old, and capable of making his own choices, he chose to get into that car and so it is his own fault he was there. instead of getting in the car he could have just as easily called himself a cab and got home safe, or better yet, if dunn was indeed drunk he could have tried to take his keys and called them both a cab. any number of things could have prevented this true tragedy, i lost two friends ten years ago due to someone in another car drunk driving and hitting them head on. They were named jeff himmel and hart kinzer. they were victims of another persons drunk driving, they had no choice whether or not they lived or died that day. they are the reason i will never drink and drive or be in a car driven by someone who has been drinking. this man had a choice, so he is only the victim of his own bad choices. this type of traumatic death is a tragedy all around, there is a lot of anger and sadness and confusion going around. it is hard times indeed. r.i.p. to both.

    @Jamie_genaw

    You do realize he was estimated to be going over 100mph swerved and flew over 40 feet through trees before finally crashing. If he wasn’t driving drunk, he was driving just as recklessly as if he had been. He put the passenger’s life in danger, succeeding in killing him, and endangered every other person on that road. I’m sorry, it is tragic that Ryan Dunn was killed and his life and the passenger’s life was ended far too soon, but the legal term for how he ended his passenger’s life is “manslaughter” at a minimum. Ebert acknowledged Dunn might not have been drunk but stated that even if he wasn’t, he was still reckless. The truth may hurt, but it’s still the truth.

    I know one thing and I have seen it with my own eyes and I knew better and that is THE NEWS MEDIA CAN GET THEIR FACTS ALL WRONG. THEY BRING WITH THEM A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF PREJUDICE IN THEIR JOURNALISM. I HAVE TRULY WITNESSED THIS IN A LOT OF PERSONAL CASES. I HAVE NO TRUST IN THE MEDIA FOR AN ACCURATE STORY.

  • Delight

    This has not been investigated thoroughly. Roger doesn’t know whether his brakes went bad , whether someone put something in his drink or what. He didn’t take the pic, someone else did. Why would he release a pic of himself drinking to the public? YOU DON”T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. Roger Egret should have kept his big mouth shut because he doesn’t know himself.

    Suppose you were the family or friend of the innocent passenger who was killed as a result of Ryan’s reckless driving, and driving at 100mph is reckless, regardless of whether or not alcohol was involved. How would you feel then – pretty angry I’m sure.

  • Hastie

    Having 3 beers and 3 shots isn’t going to get a guy who drink’s more than the average person drunk, not even buzzed. Not to fucking mention he had 3 beers, and 3 shots over the span of 5 hours? You people are idiots, every one of you. Honestly, bunch of low life bastards sitting at home with nothing better to do than assume. When the toxology report comes back and show’s that he wasn’t drunk, and not even tipsy you asshole’s better think twice about what you’ve spread. Fuck you, and fuck your mother.

  • Hastie

    You’re totally right. The punishment for speeding should be death! The guy deserved a fucking speeding ticket, not death. People make mistakes, they really do. I hope your next mistake kills you, and then i’ll comment on your death saying “Terrible person, their fault entirely, let’s remember them as a real dick”

    @Luna Petunia
    How would you have felt if someone walked up to you after your accident, and was making comment’s about how you almost died? How would you have felt? This comment could’ve been made after ALL the evidence was out there, but naw let’s just assume, assume, assume… Imagine this was your best friend who was gone, how the fuck would you feel if i started cracking off? You’d feel shitty, i say. Your life long friend, gone, and some asshole is making assumptions about how he died. I know you’d react differently, you’d be completely devastated. Instead, you’re sitting here defending a guy who has never said two words to Ryan Dunn. Also, “and did not have a choice sitting in the passenger seat. Too bad he made that choice to get into that passenger seat.” He didn’t have a choice and then made a choice that he didn’t have? It’s safe to say, you’re a moron. I guess i can’t blame you, you’re missing half your memory.

    But no one killed anybody in Ebert’s family. He should have kept his mouth closed. Everyone involved in the crash victims’ families are probably having it hard. This is no time to be on anybody’s back and increasing public hate before a thorough investigation is over. I feel for the families of both. Ebert is not related to any of them. I could understand if a family member said it but looks as if family and friends are in shock now and they do not need any hateful words going on. A loss is a loss no matter what that person did.

  • Sage

    So you’re saying Ryan was driving over 100 miles an hour after leaving a bar just for fun? And that’s supposed to make it okay that he killed the passenger in his car, too? Whatever the reason, he was acting irresponsibly and he didn’t just kill himself, he took out his friend, too. Whether he was drunk or not, he did drink and drive, which is stupid. Even if not legally drunk, his reflexes were impaired, science has proved that. Quit making excuses for stupidity. You can call it an accident, but it wouldn’t have happened if he had been behaving responsibly.

  • Hastie

    Just because you’ve got alcohol in your system, doesn’t mean that the minimum you can drive is 100 miles an hour?! He was driving to fast and recklessly, i don’t disagree with that. I disagree with the idiots saying that he was drunk behind the wheel.. It’s WAY to early to assume something like that. It’s also taking shots at a guy who can’t defend his actions in anyway? By the way, accident’s happen to people obeying the law’s of the road everyday, and many people are killed in car accident’s which neither person was doing anything wrong. As far as his passanger, he chose to get in the car, and i DOUBT he was there against his will.
