Bad engagement ‘Gossip’ about Penn Badgley and his ‘Girl’ Blake Lively

The site Betty Confidential tries to stir up more drama than on the show “Gossip Girl” with its piece, “Wedding Bells for Penn Badgley & Blake Lively?”
The blog again asks that same question TWO more times in the space of three sentences. “Are the ‘Gossip Girl’ couple Penn Badgley and Blake Lively edging towards an engagement?” reads the story’s sub-headline, followed by “‘Gossip Girl’ stars, Penn Badgley and girlfriend Blake Lively are getting very serious. Could engagement be on the horizon for the couple who does almost everything together?”
OK, we get it: They’re dating but asking three times, in the space of four sentences, if they’re on the verge of getting engaged (a) won’t make it happen and (b) won’t make this item true.
What’s the story’s proof that they’re getting engaged – that Badgley bought a ring, talked to friends about getting engaged? No.
All it says is that recently the blog’s “spies caught the 22-year-olds constantly touching, kissing and cuddling when they weren’t filming.” OK, so they’re dating…
While other sites like to cause controversy by asking questions, Gossip Cop is where you go for answers.
So, no matter how many times Betty Confidential asks whether they are “edging towards” or “on the horizon” of getting engaged, only Gossip Cop can tell you that not only did Lively’s spokeswoman call this story “funny,” but more importantly, the rep said it is “untrue.”
