Bachelorette’s Kalon and Alessandro Tell Emily They’re Not Ready to Be Parents

VIDEO

(Us Weekly)

On next Monday’s episode of “The Bachelorette,” Alessandro and Kalon tell Emily Maynard they’re not ready to parent her six-year-old daughter, Ricki.

Alessandro says if she were to choose him, he would view raising her child as “a compromise.”

Maynard responds bluntly, “You see that as a compromise and not an honor? Me having a daughter isn’t a compromise and anybody I spend the rest of my life with is going to see that as the biggest bonus ever.”

She later faces a similar situation with Kalon.

The luxury brand consultant admits to Maynard, “I always had believed that my first child would be one of my own, so obviously embracing you and Ricki as a part of my life… it’s not the way I wrote it up in my journal as a kid.”

When the Bachelorette attempts to reply, Kalon snipes, “I love it when you talk, but I wish you’d let me finish.”

Rude!

While it’s good that Alessandro and Kalon are being honest, it’s pretty lame that they would go on a show with the object of marrying a single mother if they weren’t ready to become fathers.

As a single Mother if she doesn’t get rid of these two so called men then I have no respect for her. Kids always come first I can not contemplate ever being with someone who can not love my child.

dating/marrying single mother has nothing to do with becoming parent. parent is not what you are made, it’s what you become.

Kalon shouldn’t have lasted long enough on the show to get a chance to say that. He’s a total creep.

    Spoiler much? Geez!

I started out liking Alessandro but what kind of a guy would tell a single mother it would be a compromise to raise her child? Not cool Alessandro! He should never have signed to do this particular show if that is how he really feels. Emily is very beautiful…..but these guys should all remember….loving the daughter as your own is the only way to Emily’s heart.

You know, when I saw the heading for this story I contemplated whether to see it now or wait til Mon. night. I clicked on and watched today. Everyone has that option. If you don’t want to know, don’t read the story. No one spoiled this for you.

Trust me, I’m a single mom myself and unless the child is at least high school age where they pretty much have their own life most men do not want to date a single mom. The reasons they cite are exactly the reasons Allesandro and Kalon gave which are totally selfish. Others won’t do it because they think the woman is a single mom because she made bad choices in the men she dated/married even though most of those guys have kids themselves through ex-girlfriend/ex-wives. Some women won’t date men who have kids from a previous relationship, but that’s rare.

I think these two clips have been edited for dramatic purposes, and the context may have been lost. It is clear he is saying this is not how he envisioned fatherhood as a child, but now he has a different view. Asking her to let him finish is not rude, he is trying to say he wants her and her child in his life. As far as Alessandro, he used an unfortunate choice of words… he views all aspects of marriage as compromise between a man and a woman, no matter how wonderful. Give these guys a chance.

I agree. I am of hispanic decent and the word compromise has a different meaning. It means like something your are totally commited to aboveall things. Use context clues people! Listen to what he said in the Limo. He wanted it to be about Emily and Nikki.Compromise here does not mean compromise in the sense of giving in to the other party or changing your ideals. Compromise actually referrs to a commitment.

I just watched the end where he was talking about not having any compromise and it was clear that his definition of compromise was not the same as emily’s…but he was still weird and i am glad she sent him home.
