Bachelor in Paradise Finale Recap: Marcus And Lacy Get Engaged!
Six couples remained on Monday’s season finale of “Bachelor in Paradise” when Chris Harrison announced that were would be no more rose ceremonies.
The host explained that it was up the remaining cast members to decide whether they wanted to pursue their current relationships in the real world.
But three couples would split before embarking on overnight dates in the fantasy suites.
Graham and AshLee
Knowing that future decisions were going to be made, Michelle shared her concerns about AshLee being a phony with Graham. While AshLee gushed about what a great friend Michelle was and how she was so happy with Graham, the two were discussing how he should end things with AshLee.
AshLee was somewhat blindsided when Graham told her he didn’t see them being together outside of paradise.
“I just don’t think I can continue on. I am sorry,” he said.
Graham later noted that he felt sadness, not relief after breaking up with AshLee.
AshLee left brokenhearted, and Graham fled Tulum, Mexico soon after.
Tasos and Christy
The newest couple in the group had only gone on one date before they had to decide whether or not they wanted to stay together. Tasos and Christy both agreed that they weren’t ready to move on before splitting ways.
Zack and Jackie
Zack spent most of the season with Clare, while Jackie went on multiple dates with multiple guys. So, it was no surprise that Jackie decided to end things. Zack looked reluctant to leave, but he ultimately saw where she was coming from.
Fantasy Suite Dates
Harrison announced to the remaining three couples that they would have one last date in paradise — which, of course, would be a luxurious overnight adventure.
Marcus and Lacy, who never doubted their relationship for a second, were excited to have a last date in paradise.
Meanwhile. Sarah was thrilled that she would be spending the night with a guy as “hot” as Robert.
And Michelle was still questioning her relationship with Cody, but a previous conversation with her daughter convinced her to move on with him because he’s such an amazing man.
At the start of their date Cody told her, “I’ll do whatever it takes to make it work.”
She admitted that she needed to spend more time with him before jokingly telling him, “You know you’re not getting laid tonight.”
Sarah and Robert
The day after their overnight date, Sarah revealed that after she went to go brush her teeth she found Robert under the covers with his jeans on. When she tried to unbuckle his pants, he brushed her hand away.
“I don’t even know if he has a penis,” she tearfully admitted, noting that he didn’t touch her from the neck down.
“I want to be someone who wants to lay with me until the sun gets up, getting to know me,” Sarah told Robert, adding, “Last night I felt incredibly not loved.”
After he and Sarah parted ways, Robert admitted that he was scared to tell her he was falling in love with her.
Too little, too late.
Sarah and Robert were the next couple to split and leave paradise.
For his final surprise, Harrison came back to announce that past Bachelor couples had arrived in Tulum to help the remaining cast members navigate their relationships.
Jason and Molly Mesnick, Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici, and Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried asked Marcus and Lacy, and Cody and Michelle pertinent questions, like “What animal would your partner be and why?”
After their evaluations, they determined that the two remaining couples were good together.
And despite what Harrison previously said, there was, of course, one more rose ceremony.
Michelle and Cody
Cody happily gave his rose to Michelle, telling her that he wanted to meet her daughter because he’s fully committed to her.
Michelle returned the sentiment with her own rose, thanking him for wearing his heart on his sleeve.
“The whole time it was him,” Michelle said with tears of joy.
The couple walked away on the beach, hand-in-hand.
Marcus and Lacy
The strongest couple in the house was up next, when Marcus asked to speak with Lacy privately.
Marcus told Lacy that she made him realize what “true love” is before he got down on one knee and proposed.
Lacy gleefully accepted, finally telling Marcus that she loved him.
They tearfully exchanged roses before starting the next chapter of their lives together.
What do you think of Marcus and Lacy’s engagement?
Sidenote: Chris and Elise broke up two weeks after they left Tulum together.
