Baby Survives Car Crash: Found Alive In Storm Drain After Being Thrown From Vehicle
An eight-month-old baby girl miraculously survived a car crash in Texarkana, Arkansas on Friday night after being thrown from the car and ending up in a storm drain 25-feet away. The infant emerged from the wreck with just a scratch on her forehead.
According to KSLA, an 18-wheeler truck sideswiped a car on Interstate 30, leading to the vehicle flipping over and the baby being ejected. The child’s family couldn’t initially find her following the crash, but firefighters discovered her unharmed underneath the grate of a nearby drain when they arrived at the scene (see above, right). A good samaritan reportedly pointed the first responders in the baby’s vicinity after hearing noises coming from the area. Firefighter Josh Moore told the news station, “The baby was sitting up and looking up at us waiting for us to pull her out. There had to be some kind of divine intervention for her to end up being OK.”
The four other people in the car at the time of the crash weren’t seriously injured either, nor was the driver of the truck that caused the accident, but he is being charged for an improper and unsafe lane change. Police also determined that the baby’s car seat wasn’t properly secured, but the family hasn’t been cited for any wrongdoing.
