Aziz Ansari “Famous” Spoof NOT Kanye West’s Official Music Video, Despite Report
Aziz Ansari’s “Famous” spoof is NOT Kanye West’s official music video for the song, despite reports. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct these stories. A rep confirms to us the rapper did not approve the parody as the official clip.
On a recent trip to Rome, Ansari and his “Master of None” co-star Eric Wareheim decided to create a mock video for West’s track. While they engaged in various hijinks, they also parodied West’s self-important persona. It’s racked up nearly a million views on YouTube, and on Wednesday, Consequence Of Sound claimed the performer loved it so much, he agreed to make it the official music video.
On Thursday, The Hollywood Reporter parroted the claim, but it’s an inaccurate one. West’s rep tells Gossip Cop exclusively that it’s not true Aziz’s “Famous” video is now West’s official one. That said, we’re also told that he and his camp “do love it.” West and Aziz actually have history together, as the comedic actor appeared in his clip for “Otis” with Jay Z.
Prior to Aziz’s interpretation, “Famous” was best known for reheating the feud between West and Taylor Swift. As Gossip Cop reported, the song features the lyrics “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex” and “I made that bitch famous.” He claimed Swift approved the lines, something her rep denied.
West went on to slam her on Twitter and during a few on-stage rants, while Swift made some pointed comments seemingly in response at the Grammys. Maybe Ansari’s music video will lighten the mood. Check out the unofficial “Famous” clip below.
