Avengers: Age Of Ultron Crushes Hot Pursuit For Big Box Office Weekend Win
Avengers: Age Of Ultron crushed its box office competition again this weekend, with enough moviegoers assembling to bring in a total of $77.2 million in ticket sales. While that’s a big drop from last weekend’s record-breaking opening of $191.3 million, it’s still a hearty, respectable amount.
And it was more than enough to keep Sofia Vergara and Reese Witherspoon’s new movie, Hot Pursuit, at bay and in second place. Despite an intense publicity campaign, the female buddy/road trip movie opened to only $13.3 million. Nabbing third place at the box office was The Age of Adaline with $5.6 million.
Furious 7 came in a close fourth place finish with $5.3 million, bringing the blockbuster’s total to a whopping $341 million after six weeks. Just shy in the fifth spot was Kevin James’ Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 with $5.2 million.
Rounding out the Top 10 were the sci-fi movie Ex Machina with $3.5 million, followed by Home, the animated children’s film featuring the voices of Rihanna and Jim Parsons. It made $3 million. Next was Woman in Gold with $1.7 and, as it nears the $200 million milestone, Cinderella took in $1.6 million this weekend for ninth place. Unfriended just made the Top 10 with $1.4 million in ticket sales. What did YOU see this weekend?
