Busting bad dish!

Astro Apologizes for Behaving “Wrong” on X Factor; Likens Himself to Muhammed Ali

Astro, the 15-year-old rapper on “X Factor,” took to his Facebook page to say he was sorry for acting like a spoiled brat when landing in the bottom two on Thursday.

At the time, Astro (born Brian Bradley) said he didn’t want to be on the show anymore if he wasn’t fully appreciated.

And though he annoyed judges, Simon Cowell, who was visibly annoyed with Astro, reluctantly eliminated Stacy Francis because he believes in the rapper’s potential and talent.

On Saturday, a more humble and apologetic Astro wrote, “I seriously apologize to my fans, what I said and my emotions weren’t directed toward you. I’m 15 and I think I know everything, but the truth is, I don’t, and I handled the situation wrong! Win or lose next week, I will make you all proud!”

He even tried to explain his bad behavior by comparing himself to boxing legend Muhammed Ali.

Astro said, “I believed I was being mistreated, and in the moment I thought about Ali’s moment. I want to be the new ambassador for Hip-Hop and a leader of a new young movement of positive kids, but to be that I must have Integrity and Honor first! People are saying I’m ‘cocky’ and ‘arrogant’, well maybe I have watched too many Muhammed Ali films or maybe I grew up having to fight my way home everyday or battle on street corners of Brooklyn for respect.”

“My guards are always up, and maybe I took the situation too heavy,” he added.

What do you think of Astro’s apology?

I think he’s big to admit it!!! and by the way everybody feels this way when they’re in the bottom 2 it’s just that he said how he felt

  • Mitchell

and i will definitely vote for him

  • Keith Stone

15 years old or not, does the world really need another terrible rapper? Isn’t this show for singing talent?

  • Naturallybeautifulandnice

No Keith Stone. This show is not about singing talent. It’s about finding the person with the x-factor who can sell records. Eminem is not a singing talent and yet he has sold thousands of records.
I wasn’t really into rap music, but this kid has me enjoying it a little. I think he is extremely talented. When I go back and listen to the words he has put together, I’m amazed. His lyrics are incredible. On one of his x-factor performances he tells people he is a diabetic by this one sentence “I can’t depend on my pancreas to make insulin.” But if you were not listening you would have missed it. I’m glad he realized he acted horribly and has apologized. Who hasn’t done something in life that they aren’t proud of or who hasn’t done something they wish they could go back and do differently? I for one am not perfect, so I refuse to throw stones and act like I’m perfect. A wise person will change their ways but a fool never changes. If he is wise enough to change his ways, then I will be good enough to forgive him and wish him the best.

  • Keith Stone

So what makes him any different from any other young rapper? Don’t you think it’s a reason why most of the people who do well on these shows are only in the spotlight for a year or two and then fade away? I enjoy hip-hop from time to time, but let’s be serious. That whole “15-year-old-charm” crap is only going to last so long. We have enough mediocre hip-hop artists as it is. The apology sounded forced and it came way too late. His attitude sucks, and honestly, there’s nothing about his talent that makes me believe that he’ll be around for very long. And just so no one tries to pull the race card, it should be noted that I’m African-American.

  • Murida

he is good at what he does, but he must learn to be humble when winning and gracious when in a losing position. In the X-factor you have not lost until you are no longer on the show.

  • Mail

We currently live in a society filled with self entitled brats who believe their mediocracy deserves constant recognition and praise just because they were given the message “you are special” from the moment they were born for having accomplished nothing. The youth needs a reality bitch slap.

  • http://twitter.com/AndroidSummer Jason

His attitude may suck, but that is part of the artistic temperament. Jay Z, EminEm all the great MC’s are the same they all have a chip on their shoulder and always have something to prove to someone. The fact that Astro did what he did is grade A television. It makes things interesting. It wasn’t great on his part because he pissed off a lot of his fans but the fact that he apologised belatedly or not just earned him double what he lost…It’s all publicity and Simon knows it. Why do you think he took to his own Twitter to mention that he had a “Sit down with astro, la and astro’s dad.” there’s no such thing as bad publicity. Everything good or bad can be turned into a marketing campaign. Imagine now. The 15 year old kid from the bronx whose gone through more hardships than most rises from the ashes of near blow up and failure to make it to the finals…. What a story you couldn’t script it any better than that.

  • Naturallybeautifulandnice

If you are African American then I feel sorry for you.
You of all people should know the challenges
Black youth face today. Instead of
Kicking him down you should be applauding
Him for trying to better himself. He is young
Enough to change yet so many people are
Ready to crucify him because he behaved
Horribly. obviously the judges see talent
In this young boy. I’m glad he has been
    Given another chance.

  • GET REAL PEOPLE

Brato’s so called apology shows hes got another chip on his shoulder at the young age of 15 …this brat thinks he deserves to win…hey brato….work for it like everyone else in the world no matter what color or race they are….. you need some serious schooling and behavior correction.
Anyway Brato your on you own Titanic and its going down fast

  • D. Martin

While I believed he behaved horribly and was concerned at what I saw at the tender young age of 15 — if he’s this way NOW what is his attitude gonna be when he’s older and successful? — I do think that he can learn from this and change his ways. My concern is if he doesn’t. I don’t prefer rap though there are some numbers I really like but I will admit that this kid is VERY talented.

Not a lot of people have Facebook accounts. I’m betting that his attitude will put him in the bottom two again soon if not next week. Everyone else on that stage is thankful to be there and humble and the diva display may not get him any more votes.

  • Nichols238

    It was a forced apology.

  • lori

He has had MAJOR attitude from the beginning. He needs to go. Teach him a lesson in humility and then let him earn his way instead of it being handed to him on a television show. There are far more talented and HUMBLE people on the show who truly deserve a break into the business. I, for one, would like to see more people make it who aren’t so damn full of themselves. I’m TIRED of bad behavior being rewarded.

  • Keith Stone

It’s “young men” like him that give the rest of us a bad name. I refuse to support some spoiled punk who goes on National television and makes an ass of himself. I take pride in what I do, and I have my entire life. If no one sat him down and told him how to behave in public before he went on tv, then that’s not my problem and I’m certainly not going to side with him. He’s a stereotype with no talent. Regardless of his age, he’s nothing special and honestly, NOT worth the attention he’s getting. If he didn’t go and show his ass, would he have all this attention for his talent? NO.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001062667724 Blaze Gunn

He’s 15 Get Over it… also if you think he belonged in the bottom 2 then you must have not watch the show the way the X-Factor is why i can’t really predict who’s gonna win because anyone can be in the bottom for the lack of votes and due to the save me song… to of the best of the night can both be at the bottom and one has to go home. like i believe Drew who has a large fan base will last longer then most think same goes for a few others its not about the judges too much anymore its about the fans they decide everyones fate… i feel bad for astro becuase i understood where he came from but now everyone thinks he doesnt deserve to be on the show because how he acted and may not get any votes still…

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_IUW2RHB4IA2FXJ4GCWXIMXKB4M Elois

This is why I feel children shouldn’t be in these type of shows, I don’t care how talented they are. At 15 his is not mature enough to except when things don’t go his way. He’s a spoiled mama’s boy, arrogant & cocky.
He was lucky to continue, should think get a good talking to by his moma & LA Reid.
There r 3 left in my opinion that should have left two weeks ago, I’ll see & thinking about voting. lol

  • Naturallybeautifulandnice

Win or lose, I wish Astro the best.
I hope he learns from his mistakes and that he grows up
to be a good person and that he shows far more mercy and
forgiveness to others than they have shown him
this week. I am finished commenting on the matter.

  • Jess

Yes, “Astro” has talent and I understand that why Simon chose to keep him, but really, he is not the greatest thing the world has seen so he should stop acting like it! All the attention that he has been given has really gone to his head and the love received from some of his more-obsessed fans have made him think that he is on the same level of fame as Beyonce or Michael Jackson. With his so-called apology, you can see that he uses the word ‘maybe’ quite a few times, and this shows that his apology was obviously a fake attempt to correct the current up-himself image he holds because of his actions. ‘Maybe’ shows that he does not believe that he is wrong in his head, and is unwilling to totally admit to his bad attitude and reaction. HELLO FUTURE KANYE WEST! At this rate, if “Astro” does become sucessful, he’ll be the guy in the future to interrupt Taylor Swift because he thinks that his beliefs are superior to the nation’s beliefs.

  • Anonymous

Don’t cut him more slack just because he’s 15. He is arrogant and the apology was crap. He’s been pampered and praised and told how great he is and he was dumb enough to believe. There have been dozens of teens and pre-teens on these reality shows and all of them were more gracious at winning and losing. There were wonderfull contestants, and I’m thinking of AGT 2010,who were younger and worked much harder,( the Ballroom Dancing kids) and AGT 2011-there were several pre-teens singing, and none of them fell apart when they were eliminated. The last poor sports we saw were Chaz Bono and Hope Solo. It’s not the age, race,or sex that matters. Sore losers just make you feel bad because their attitude stinks. And yes,G-d help us if he wins. His behaviour will only get worse. Can you say Kanye?

  • Guest

That’s what I thought the moment I read his words. Sounds like a PR move by someone more knowledgeable than him on this matters.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_CW2HL37VUCSA2FQKA4OHANXURQ Don

He is way over rated. so he can yell some third grade limericks while pumping his fist. Yawn!

  • Jonellemahima

    You go girl!!!

  • Endika

Astro is on his way out……bye, bye

  • Amandanoa

I think part of the problem is that these young ones are built up and told how good they are but not prepared for the downside – they’re all going to be in the bottom 2 at some stage and, hopefully after this, the mentors will prepare them more for that. Rachel was crying too when it looked like she might end up there – it’s one thing to build up their confidence by telling them they’re so good but they do need to be told the realities as well. I suspect none of the young ones have known rejection for their talent so far.

  • Shannon

Im sure his parents or better yet manager that told him what to say.

  • Jennnifer

Artistic temperament? Where I come from and how I was raised, it’s stilled called just plain bad manners from a spoiled kid who obviously has too many adults indulging him. I’m not buying the “school of hard knocks” nonsense, either. He and his family look very upper middle class to me. Most of that nonsense on those shows (X Factor is the blue print for them, btw) make all the sob stories up. There are plenty of talented people in the charts and on the red carpets who got there thru years of hard work and weren’t given a short cut to fame and fortune. THEY don’t act like little brats. Not giving this little snivler a pass. He should get a couple of smacks on his ass and a good talking to. Hopefully, he’s had both by now.

  • Jennifer

Couldn’t agree w/ you more, Keith. His being black is immaterial. I disliked the behavior I saw from him. He needs a good smack on the butt. You never see JZ or 50 or any of those guys behaving that way. And those guys had to WORK for it. Nobody gave them an EZ Pass for the X Factor 12 week course. People like Girl Friend down below should stop whimpering and bleeding for him. It’s called “enabling”. The kid will never turn into a responsible adult w/ people like her around.

  • Artie

OMFG race really!!!! it isnt that he SUCKS, and has alienated the audience in a contest that requires thier vote??? no its because of his race, his headphones, the fact that he has a funny nose, and that no one realizes he is the second coming of Ali, blah, blah, blah

  • greg

i hope they have country week so he can expand his talent…..kinda like when la tells melanie everything sounds the same…..wait ..i got it…have her rap and him SING…now there”s an idea….

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VZXII5E3TEA5OL3XG45KZ6MXNU JAMES

I don’t buy it…..he was made to apologize…….he will loose votes.

  • Amy

i personally love astro not only because hes trying to live out his dream, but because he has the balls to apologise. if he didnt care about his life or what simon thinks, he would apologise. people need to realise hes different and has what it takes. and dont you old people know that singing is soooo out. rapping is the new. open your eyes an see hess amazing. if your reading this astro, know im ahuge fan. i will always vote for you no matter what!!!

  • Kaily Ryan

i love you astro. ur cute an talented. all who disagree, then why dont yall try to get up there and sing. then see how many people hate you an BOO you off stage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lrwlacy

Are you people serious, no I don’t agree with his actions nor his behaviour and yes it probably was a force apology but I truly do feel he’s learned from his mistake, but give me a break he’s a 15 year old kid. And weather the apology was sincere or not I appreciate the fact that this young man wants to make something of himself. He’s not out in the streets trying to be a gang banger or a stick up kid or a rapper talking about drugs or calling females bitches and hoes, nor is he talking about selling drugs. He’s not from Idaho where they grow potatoes he from the hood. If you think about it how many 15 yr old kids can sit down and come up with the stuff he does. I think he’s very talented and just need a little guidance and mentoring. We need to learn how to forgive and stop trying to judg people. I hope God forgives us for all our mistake we’ve made and lord knows we have. Even if he doesn’t win hes going somewhere. Just watch and see. This won’t be the last time you see this kid. We don’t know what this kid has been through, we don’t know his whole story. Jay-Z, Diddy, 50 all of them are a little arrogant in there own personal way, this young man just let the pressure get the best of him live on T.V. he’s a kid people a darn 15yr old kid. Not a grown man ( KANYE) he just has to learn that’s life and everyone is not gonna like what you do. Taylor Swifft got over it and forgave KANYE so move on. I’m 45yr old female and could care less for rap but I got to give the kid credit he’s good and he keeps the crowd hyped, he has the X-FACTOR weather you like rap or not. He makes my head boo up and down and I would love to see him become something great.
