Drew has a great voice, but she seems to only be able to sing slow songs. Who wants to listen to that all the time!! i’m glad Marcus was not sent home, he sanged his heart out and he is a great performer. He is a great R & B artist, which means he will give a variety of songs to listen to once he gets his own record deal!! Go Marcus! Drew was not the best on the show, who needs another Taylor Swift, that is what she reminds me of! Melanie Amaro has a way better voice than her!

As far as I am concerned….it has been a competition again Simon no matter what…..Drew should not have gone.

Simon was so pissed…I did not think Drew deserved to go home but I think Simon deserved to be betrayed by the girl judges (even though I don’t even like them) after he made Drew give one too many slow performances. I am more than likely done watching for the season. I may watch next week just to see how Simon acts towards Paula and Nicole.

Drew is a great little singer, but shows her age when dealing with failure. She needs to learn to be gracious with winning or losing. After all, this has given her the break of her lifetime. Her meltdown was a result of her age and getting a bit swell-headed. I didn’t see a lot of humility when she was talking about.”My fans” and “My true talent”. Her talent will prevail.. I hope this experience has provided her with the humility she needs to be a true star.

Honestly I felt Astro’s behavior 2 weeks ago was better than Drew’s reaction today. Drew and Astro were actually the only acts that didn’t really change so i guess it makes sense they’re gone. But I loved Astro the most and know he could potentially be the most successful artist from the season in a few years

Yes! First, this is a SINGING competition. Nor a rapping competition. And Drew has NO variety. She always sounds the same week in and week out. Can she sing anything faster than 80 bpm?

Have watched American Idol from beginning and now the X Factor and is first time that I have felt that the judging was purposely not fair. All of the judges are experienced and talented in field, why would they vote off Drew? Yes, she received less votes than the 5 remaining contestants, but should have been kept by judges this week. Will miss looking forward to the show to watch her performance.

It always did deem like Paula and Nicole favored the minorities more when it was not their white team member on the line, but then again I don’t like Marcus because I don’t like R&B. I always complained about Drew because she sounded like elevator music with the song picks (Simon admittedly screwed up with mentoring Drew) but I am mad she went home over Marcus cuz I hate his goofy face. I don’t think he puts on such a great show, he imitates greatness. Nothing I have not seen a thousand times before, outdated, not an artist, not original, will have no place in the real music world. Cruise ships… maybe.

What started out as having wonderfully talented (better than American Idol) singers/performers, ends up being a power struggle about “mentors” and nothing to do with the actual artist. Shame on Paula who should have let the judges vote go to a deadlock and let the real “popular vote” determine who went home. i think Paula messed up really bad, i do believe LA Reid and Nicole thought it would go to deadlock. I see Drew and i could see all the potential she has. Canty has no more potential. i really hope the show admits there mistake and bring Drew back….she’s much better than what we’ve seen. im not an expert, but i do see a superstar in Drew. Ok, seriously…. Yes Drew is talented, but Marcus out sang her in the “save me” song. Therefore, she was sent home. THAT was the reasoning. So many people were angry that Simon didn’t save Leroy last week based on the “save me” song but Paula was supposed to have it go to a deadlock this week? Make up your minds people. There are judges there for the vote off so that they can give his or her vote – lest we forget that AMERICA picked the bottom three and NOT the judges. Frankly, I wasn’t surprised when Paula preferred Marcus’ performance over Drew’s: she was pitchy at the climax of the song and clearly let her nerves distract her. Arguably, Marcus let his nerves affect him last week and Leroy should have been saved.
Let’s just wish them both well and look forward to their albums :).
P.S. Paula’s groups are out so she’s truly left with her true opinion. Had she picked either one, people would have complained.

As a result of tonight’s outcome, I will never watch the X Factor again. Paula Abdul should be thrown off the show for what she did. If she was a true “impartial” judge and was voting based on the save performance, then she should have voted Macus off. Marcus’s performance sucked beyond belief from the song choice right down to the vocal performance. Can you say off key? HORRIBLE. I admit that Drew has a unique voice-but the truth is that she never takes any risks. She does the same thing every week and doesn’t act mature all the time. Yes, Astro acted like a brat a few weeks ago, but then he matured and look how well he took failure today. Drew can never admit that she did something wrong or that she could have done something better. The first time LA offered critique, she said that he was mean to her. I’m sorry, but wth? If you’re going to be on a nationwide competition, you have to grown up enough to take criticism. No one’s perfect and people aren’t going to like you all the time. Yeah she wasn’t prepared for it but she didn’t act that way just that week. LA WAS wrong to criticize her for SKyscraper since that week was all about honoring someone and she shared that song with her best friend, but to be honest, Drew’s reactions were never really that mature. And you can’t use age as an excuse-look how well Rachel took criticism last night. Drew could never accept it. She is a great singer and I do love her voice but she has to work on her attitude before she becomes a star.

Paula’s decision was awkward for her being viewed as the compassionate one. I thought she would make the votes decide. Drew shouldn’t have been let go. It will come down to Josh and Melanie with Melanie being the winner. Paula made a big mistake.

Look, I’ve been a musician since before most of the competitors were even born. The fastest way to lose an audience is too many slow songs. Drew would be prescribed for insomniacs to help them fall asleep without causing addiction.

American Idol, X Factor, well maybe we need one more to finally get it right. I really liked the original concept of America voting for the bottom two, then the “judges” step in and throw out the worst, and more importantly, save the best (keeping America from making a mistake). Then they started throwing off two at a time (what’s that all about?), and let America vote off the worst of the worst without a chance for the judges to save that person. Big mistake, we all know from AI that that doesn’t work. So X almost got it right except for one HUGE problem that I’m surprised no one has mentioned. You CANNOT have a legitimate show where the SAME group of people are both mentors AND judges. It’s ridiculous. That’s where AI gets it right. A great set of mentors, including guest mentors, and a separate “impartial” panel of judges. Duh.

X Factor degraded quite quickly into its current mess, which is no longer a performance competition, but rather a free-for-all sniping contest between four arguably-talented egomaniacs who only care about how they come off on television. And the only thing more disgusting than that is that they’ve chosen to use desparate, older “last chance” entertainers and 12-14 year old children as pawns in their sick, twisted game of manipulation!

I don’t particularly care for Astro or Rap, but his talent is unquestionable. Drew is just too young for the industry and she needs a few years to develop her range, but her talent, too, is unquestionable. Chris, Marcus? Come on. Bad karaoke, at best. AI’s thirteen-year-old female voting armada is at it again, in full force. Until a show can figure out how to keep them in check, we will not have a decent competition. But then, this isn’t really about competition is it? It’s about selling Pepsi and smart phones to young teenage girls. Right? So in that respect, I guess X has got it right after all…

By the way, don’t feel bad for Drew or Astro. Getting booted off now might just give them both the chance to mature for the few years they both desperately need. Drew is clearly more talented than Marcus. Marcus is charming at best but lacks the powerful voice that other contestants have (like Melanie and Josh); the originality that other contestants have (like Astro) and there is nothing unique about him (unlike Drew who at least has a unique voice). I think that Paula and Nicole might actually have a thing for Marcus – just watch the video of Marcus’s first audition – Paula and Nicole were acting as though Usher was performing for them. On a lighter note, for those that think that Marcus can’t sing to save his life, well apparently he can – he has done it two weeks in a row!

I blame Simon for Drew being voted off, not Paula. I think that Simon knew that all along his girl Drew had a chance to win the whole thing, and would probably beat his other girl Melanie. Hence the problem….Won’t Simon look like a huge winner if Melanie wins the whole thing since she was added to the show at the last minute? This whole thing is planned from the beginning….I’ll not be watching the x-factor again only because I have lost faith in the show, the show is picking who stays and who goes, so why do we vote. I think Astro should have stayed over Marcus.

Sorry, was trying to be objective, but my disappointment of no longer being able to watch Drew snuck in there. I’m very partial to female vocalists, and don’t care much for heavily produced R&B performers. I prefer to listen to pure vocal talent, which is what I was getting from Drew. Marcus can sing, I just personally didn’t find him interesting.

And FYI, I’m a professional musician, so I am quite “educated” enough to judge these performers.

Astro will be the one who makes the most records next to Melanie Amaro. But yeah. I just like that Astro writes his own lyrics and at 15, he is a pretty darn good MC and rapper. He is the next generation, attitude or not. The kid has got swagger and he doesn’t need this 5 million dollar pepsi contract and record deal. Please. The ones who prob need the show are Josh Krascjik and Chris Rene and Melanie Amaro. Marcus Canty has got soul but he is not the best vocalist and my least favorite performer. Thought he would be voted off first and Astro and Drew duke it out. And I love Rachel Crow but she is still in it because she is popular to America. Its a popularity contest in her case.

Right now, the only ones worth seeing left in the competition are Melanie Amaro and Chris Rene. Astro was my other favorite artist and now he is gone. Nothing else to look forward to. Canty is a terrible vocalist in comparison to the others, Rachel is still young and has a lot of room to grow, and Krascjik is pretty darn talented but Melanie and Chris would be my finals!

Sorry but I really don’t think Drew took to criticism well. I agree there were times when it was undeserved (like Skyscraper which was a mistake on LA’s part) but I don’t think she’s mature enough. Clearly you like Drew, but if you go back and watch, there is not even one time in which she just accepted the criticism. Every single time, she talked back and wouldn’t accept it. And actually my post is not that negative. I think you’re just blinded by your love for Drew. I actually said that I was a fan for a long time of hers and I admitted that she has an unique and amazing voice. I think she needs a few years to grow up a bit-she’s so young- but she has the potential to be a star. Besides attitude is critical. When she becomes a star, she’s not always going to get good reviews. There are going to be critics who don’t have nice comments and she has to be mature and grown up enough to face them admirably, which she has not done so far. I think she needs a few years to mature but then she can be really good.

Actually…I have watched the show from the beginning. I specifically said that I loved her for a long time before her attitude made me change my mind. And I never said that she doesn’t make songs her own. I thought what she did with BAby was brilliant. My only problem is that she and Simon never took any risks after that and played it safe.

To be honest, I lost all respect for Simon from this show. He was a complete hypocrite. He always criticized others and expected everyone to listen and then blew a gasket anytime someone even mentioned a word about his girls. I mean all those times he told Drew to ignore the other judges? Completely rude. And the three of them happened to be right in the end. Poor Drew, but Simon deserved what he got. He needs some humility and needs to learn to respect other people’s opinons. All this really showed was a lack of class on Simon’s part. But I have to commend the other 3 for always taking his jabs admirably. Especially when he told Paula that that was why she didn’t have any groups left. If anyone had talked to Simon this way, he would have blown up.

I think the mentor thing is a good idea, but not for judges. This show has gone terribly wrong and they need to have a more diverse panel. This has become a popularity contest instead of a true search for the best talent. Drew should not have been sent home. They should have let it go to deadlock like Simon did last week. The females have been hating on Drew for a while and what is the deal with the cooing over Marcus?? His style is sooo played out, and his vocals are not all that. Who wants another Bobby Brown?? I will not be watching the show anymore, too bad, I really enjoyed it up till tonight. I feel like my team just lost the superbowl…damn.

I agree with you. Marcus is super talented, he’s the whole package. I can see myself buying an album from him. Drew is an excellent singer, she’s super talented as well, but she played it safe & that was her downfall. Plus, she couldn’t take criticism. Everytime she was told to do something different, a more upbeat song; she came back with something that sounds completely like she sounded the week before. I’m not a hater, but I’m just being truthful. I believe she needs to grow more before she thinks about entering the music industry, not everyone is going to like you & even more are going to criticize you.

I totally agree with what Tyme Wyze wrote. Drew was not very humble when she lost and she was surely full of herself. I truly think the way she has been acting (her personality and attitude) was what caused her to be voted off with the public. Her heart wasn’t in it as much as her ego. Paula kept asking Drew to do a different sort of song – something a bit upbeat, and all Drew did was boring and slow – I don’t blame Paula for voting her off as she didn’t listen.

I am glad that “Astro” the little brat has been sent packing. Not only was his attitude offensive, there was NOTHING he did other than “rap” on the show. The other singers had to go way beyond there norm but Astro got to do what he wanted to do. What an embarrassment watching that week after week after week. So kudos to the public for finally getting him off the show. Now we can get down to the talent that is left. I for one are routing for Melanie and Josh. Marcus and Chris can go home. X-Factor is MUCH better than American Idol…they don’t drag it out. The host is far better than Ryan Seacrest. American Idol has stupid skits. I like the judges on American Idol, but the show needs to “up” it a bit more. Looking forward to X-Factor next week…I can finally watch the whole show and not have to turn it off now that the little brat is gone

Drew may have been singing the same way week after week but that does not deny the fact that she has the most unique voice in the competition. At 14 she has a lot of time to learn to be a better or more rounded performer, and with the compressed schedule I am sure Simon knew trying to teach her to sing more upbeat songs would do her a disservice in the competition.
Taking the saving song as the yard stick, she won that..maybe not by miles but by enough. She had one slipup near the end but Marcus was pitchy throughout his song. More than likely resigned to the fact that he was being voted off.
Paula and Nicole may have thought this was their chance to get back at Simon for his vitriol week after week but they lost sight of the fact that they were playing with the dreams of this little girl. Hopefully Simon gives her a decent contract and has her record out before people forget her.

Astro is arrogant. That’s no hate, that’s just observation. Plus I thought The X Factor was a singing competition. Astro can’t sing. He never even tried to, so one can only assume he can’t. Most good rappers can sing. That was proven with the rap act that appeared on the show last night.

Not sure why everyone is shocked. This is a competition…and it is obvious that Drew’s level of support was declining by the fact that she has been in the bottom four the last few weeks. The reality is that no one wants to hear the same songs week after week. At this point they are all great singers…and right now its about versatility. Drew’s a one act singer while Marcus has much more versatility. We can talk about vocals errors all night, but most live performers in todays industry have some type of vocal problem at some point in their performances. If you guys wanted her there so bad then you should have voted. Blame. Yourselves. I doubt the judges decisions had anything to do with Simon and more to do with their dissatisfaction in Drew (who I might say is not good with criticism). No where does it say this was a singing competition. This was a completion point blank. If you wanted strictly singing…u should have watched American idol. Simon said it best, in that he was looking for different when he thought of the concept for the show.Astro is the only talent tin the show that had major players in the music industry intrigued by his greatness. He will be multi platinum in a couple of years. Most of the haters(if they are honest with themselves) are only glad Astro’s gone because they feared his talent and knew that he was capable of beating out the other contestant. If you don’t like hip hop….then fine, but please to deny that he was an amazing talent. I’m not a rock fan but I can identify great rock talent when I hear it. These shows are built on drama and they got the drama last night.

As admitted by the maestro himself, it was squarely Simon’s fault for “molly-coddling” Drew as though he was trying to pull strings to have his “girls” reach the top. As for Drew, she may have received more viewer votes to have kept her in the top five if not for very obvious favoritism shown by Simon toward this girl. As for Marcus, he nailed it in the survival duel. He handled the situation extremely professionally and delivered his song in a masterful manner to win the hearts of the three judges who favored Drew being sent home as a result. I was particularly impressed with little Astro – who handled his elimination better than many adults would have. I feel this little guy would beat a $5 dollar contract by making billions in no time if he continues his career in his current stride.

As much as I enjoy watching the competitors singing their hearts out, Its so disgusting to see the judges conflicting like four little kids trying to outdo one another which has resulted in a situation where they are more interested in kicking out each other’s competitors rather than ensuring their own perform better.

I completely agree with you both. I really love Drew’s voice, but I am so tired of the slow songs enough already. It just got real boring and depressing for me. It was definitely her time to go. Her vocals were so on point Wed night, but seriously when she started singing another slow song I couldn’t take it anymore. I kinda blame Simon’s stubborness for not listening to the other judge’s suggestions. Avril Lavigne may have worked well for her. I believe she can become star, but she just hasn’t proven that she can sing an upbeat song, she has to prove that to me before I could ever consider buying her album.

I disagree. with the success of Usher, Chris Brown and others, there is indeed room on the pop charts for an artist like Marcus. At least he showed that he can sing ballads, uptempos, and midtempos and dance. I believe Drew could have done more than just drab ballads, but she didn’t stand up to Simon and assert herself enough to it. So eventually her performances got stale and boring and she got sent home. If Adele and others can have to do uptempos or songs with more energy to break the pop charts, I don’t see why Simon thought Drew was going to get away doing ballads ALL the time. Now THAT’s something I don’t see on the charts to much. Sorry.

I’m sorry but Marcus can sing. Drew can sing, too, but she’s technically not the best singer in the competition (she’s more famous for her vocal tone and style than her actual skill) and lacks heavily in the performance category. I’m not talking about dancing but I’m just talking about simple connection and being able to diversify and bring energy to her performances.

I don’t understand why people like Chris so much, but he has serious fans. His audition video was downloaded more than any of the other contestants, so it doesn’t look like he’ll be going home soon. Personally, I think the right choice is whoever has the most fans and support. I think people assumed Drew had more fans than others, but when you look at her Youtube hits compared to others, that may not be true.

There may be some out there who likes what Drew is doing just fine, but I don’t think there is ENOUGH people who will want to go see someone do a whole concert just sitting down or lying on the floor singing sorrowful ballads all night. Look at Adele, she is a soul, sixties style singer who doesn’t dance but she still does uptempos (Rolling in the Deep). You pretty much have to do at least one or two to break into the pop charts these days.

I disagree. I think the judges are simply picking who they like more. Paula and Nicole are into Pop, R&B, and dance music and they love performers and entertainers (becuase those are the kinds of artists they were themselves when they did music) so they picked the artist that most reflected that. When AMERICA voted Drew in the bottom three, at that point it was all fair game.

What is your problem, I liked Drew when she first appeared but after that I could see she was singing the same type of songs and it would finally get her off the show. Race had nothing to do with this. Maybe I should call AI racist because it seems mostly white people win on that show with a couple of exceptions. One most notably who was sent off the show was Jennifer Hudson, hmm…I wonder what happened to her. Think before you post, if that is possible.

No I didn’t like Marcus at all actually – but did find Drew getting boring, although Billie Jean and last weeks skyscraper were her 2 best performances, but still more of the same. Any artist has to have a bit of variety in a concert or people will get bored. Even with rap there is always a different song behind it – rap by itself gets monotonous. Malanie is also getting boring – always the same sort of song.

Drew has power and range in her voice but didn’t show much of it – she only sold one side of herslf – she probably could have performed more like Malanie if she just let go and put more into it. She is only 14 and should be trying all sorts of stuff and not settling at such a young age.

Drew has such a unique voice and she should still be there! Unfortunately Simon was right and she should of sang a different song with a little more zest to it. She has one of those voices that when you hear it you know it is her just like Janis Joplin, Dolly Parton, Reba etc. When you hear those voices you know right away who it is and Drew will be the same.
