Michael Fassbender to Star in Assassin’s Creed Movie

Michael Fassbender will produce and star in Assassin’s Creed, a big-screen adaptation of the massively successful video game franchise.

The game’s story follows Desmond Miles, a contemporary descendant of expert assassins, who is thrust back into a series of history-spanning adventures in which he experiences his ancestors’ violent escapades.

He is transported via memory into situations including the Holy Crusades and Renaissance Italy.

More than 30 million copies of the series’ games have been sold.

Specific details about the movie adaptation have not been revealed.

Fassbender “was our first choice,” says an executive for game-maker Ubisoft, describing him as an “extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor.”

He can currently be seen in Prometheus.
