Arnold Schwarzenegger Responds To Donald Trump National Prayer Breakfast Slam – WATCH VIDEOS
The National Prayer Breakfast is an annual event attended each year by the president on the first Thursday in February. While typically the president is expected to make a poignant speech about prayer, hope, and unity, Trump used part of his time on stage to take a swipe at Schwarzenegger. After an introduction from “Celebrity Apprentice” producer Mark Burnett, the president noted how he left the show to run for office.
Trump then said, “They hired a big, big movie star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, to take my place. And we know how that turned out. The ratings went right down the tubes. It’s been a total disaster, and Mark [Burnett] will never, ever bet against Trump again. And I wanna just pray for Arnold, if we can, for those ratings.”
Trump’s jab immediately raised eyebrows, Schwarzenegger’s included. And now the former governor of California has taken to Twitter to issue a response. In a short video he posted, Schwarzenegger says, “Hey Donald, I have a great idea. Why don’t we switch jobs? You take over TV because you’re such an expert in ratings, and I take over your job and then finally people can finally sleep comfortably again. Hm?”
Schwarzenegger tweeted with the video, “The National Prayer Breakfast?” Of course, the Austrian native cannot become president since he’s foreign-born, but that’s besides the point. And this is now the second time Trump has hit his replacement over the “Apprentice” ratings, the first instance occurring after the season premiere last month.
But the president’s new dig comes only days after Schwarzenegger slammed Trump’s immigration action. Watch their respective comments below.
