Ariel Winter Guardianship Dispute Settled, Actress Cries in Court
Ariel Winter’s guardianship dispute, which pitted her mom Chrisoula Workman against her sister Shanelle Gray over who would care for the teen, was settled on Monday — right before a trial was set to begin.
According to the agreement, the 16-year-old “Modern Family” star will remain living with her big sister, and can decide whether or not to visit her mom.
As Gossip Cop reported, Winter was removed from her mom’s house following abuse allegations.
A judge previously believed there had been emotional abuse, but felt claims of physical abuse were “inconclusive.”
Workman has repeatedly denied the allegations in the past, and reiterated on Monday, “I have never abused my daughter.”
Winter’s mother agreed to the guardianship settlement on the condition that a tape be played in court.
The video, a montage of family photos of Winter and Grey growing up, led the two women to cry.
Following the settlement announcement, Winter’s mom and sister issued a joint statement that read, “The family has moved beyond the conflict.”
