Ariana Grande: Justin Bieber And I Never Completed Teased Duet For My New Album — But “We Owe It To Our Fans”
“We were working on it. We were in the studio together… We were going to do it, but then we both got busy,” she tells the Associated Press.
Grande continues, “I had to focus on my stuff and he was focusing on his, and it just sort of didn’t really get done.”
But all hope is not lost for Arianators and Beliebers.
“We feel like we owe it to our fans to do something one day,” says Grande. “We will finish it and put it out one day, but it just wasn’t the right time.”
And the Bieber collaboration isn’t the only thing the singer has had to pass up — Grande has also put acting on the backburner, despite receiving several script offers.
“There were a couple things I really wanted to do, but I had to turn down because of the music and what’s going on right now in my music career,” she explains.
“It disappointed me so much because they were horror-related and horror is like my favorite thing in the world,” Grande reveals, adding, “But hopefully down the line I’ll be able to work with those people again.”
The recent cancellation of “Sam & Cat” has left the Nickelodeon star with “mixed emotions,” as she notes, “It’s easier putting yourself out there as somebody else than it is to put your actual self out there.”
She goes on, “It took me a long time to embrace that and to become comfortable enough in my own skin and let down that sort of Cat Valentine shield.”
But while Grande is now on the fast-track to superstardom, she admits she hasn’t taken the time to enjoy it, largely due to her grandfather’s declining health.
He sadly passed away last week.
Reflecting on the time she spent by his bedside in recent months, Grande says, “I personally felt like I’ve been not as appreciative as I could be of the music success I wanted all my life because I’ve been distracted by my grandfather and his health and this being such a dark time.”
There hasn’t been much opportunity to “sit back and realize and just enjoy,” but when there is, Grande is confident she’ll handle all that fame has to offer just fine.
“I feel like I’m doing all the right things in my personal life to maintain a healthy space to make sure I am ready for all of this and ready for the attention that comes with this because, you know, I’m mostly focused on music, but I understand that there’s a lot that comes with being a part of this industry,” she says
