Argo Beats Hotel Transylvania and Cloud Atlas at Weekend Box Office

BOX OFFICEArgo topped a crowded box office that was weakened by Hurricane Sandy’s threatening ascent up the East Coast.
Ben Affleck’s true story CIA thriller earned $12.4 million, beating the animated Hotel Transylvania, which took second place and a $9.5 million haul.
The Tom Hanks-Halle Berry new release Cloud Atlas secured third with $9.4 million.
Fourth and fifth places went to two horror flicks – Paranormal Activity 4 and Silent Hill: Revelation 3D – which raked in $8.7 million and $8.1 million, respectively.
Rounding out the Top 10 were Liam Neeson’s mad dad sequel Taken 2 ($8 million), Here Comes The Boom ($5.5 million), Sinister ($5 million), Alex Cross ($5 million), and Fun Size ($4.1 million).
