Shocking Double Elimination on Dancing with the Stars: All Stars + The 3 Finalists

“Dancing with the Stars: All Stars” held its third double elimination of the season on Tuesday — and the results were nothing short of game-changing.

Two shocking pairs were booted based on the judges’ scores and the viewers’ votes.

So, which dancers were surprisingly sent home?

SPOILER ALERT

Apolo Ohno and Karina Smirnoff were the first to be dramatically eliminated, even though just 24 hours before they scored a perfect 30.

The shocks continued when Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke were also sent packing.

Going on to the finals are Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough, Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani, and Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy.

    Kinda shocked that Apolo was sent home. Not shocked at all that Emmett was, however. I believe he lasted longer than I would have predicted – but of course, Sabrina went home way earlier than I would have predicted as well. I was hoping for a Shawn, Melissa, Apolo finale, with them placing as I posted – guess I’ll have to take out Apolo and add Kelly. While I like Kelly, voted for her in season 1, and think she has really improved, I believe she made it to the finale because of her and Val’s ‘relationship’ and how ‘sex sells’ on TV nowadays. However, IMO, it’s getting annoying to me – as Louis told them, ‘get a room.’ Keeping fingers crossed and hoping that Shawn and Derek take it all. Now if they had gone home, or Melissa and Tony – that would have been shocking.

    I am not shocked Apolo went home. I wish he didn’t, he was one of my favorite but I had this feeling he would leave tonight. I like Shawn but would prefer Melissa to win it.

    I thought Emmitt should have gone weeks ago.

    Emmitt is my all time favourite on DWTS! He embodies the joy of dance for me. I could never stop smiling whenever he and Cheryl took the floor. Also enjoyed Apolo immensely.

    I did feel that neither Emmitt or Apolo showed as much exuberance as in their previous seasons-I also am not enjoying this dwts as much as usual. The actual dancing is becoming secondary in the show’s format. Intense competition with more and more focus on perfect scores, long drawn out torturous eliminations, and more dance challenges actually aimed at tripping up the contestants instead of encouraging growth and appreciation for each performance.

    Anyway I loved the way Emmitt and Cheryl danced and will miss them for sure.

    Not super happy about Apolo… BUT it’s the name of the game, only one couple can win. I think Derek and Shawn should win but will be happy with any couple, they’re all great! It was an amazing season, really enjoyed it!

    Lisa, you are absolutely right that there is a lack of enthusiasm (with the exception of Giles and Apolo) like there was in previous seasons. I’m afraid that the competition may not be as “exciting” but we should see some great dancing at least. I don’t even wait to watch the results with my wife any more because I can watch commercial free when I’m getting ready for work. I use Auto Hop on my DISH Hopper DVR and that way I can skip the commercials automatically and do other things while I’m watching. Then, I pick up my DISH coworker and we talk about the results on the way to work.

    What’s the shock? Emmett was the least capable celebrity dancer of the last group of 8. What was a shock was when Sabrina and Gilles were eliminated before him! How did that make any sense at all? It has come down to the three best dancers left: Shawn, Kelly and Melissa. All three deserve trophies.

    Love all three couples left! Any one of them would be a great winner! I would love to see Tony finally win a Mirror Ball Trophy. although just getting this far has finally shown what he is really capable of. Also would be fun to see Val win on his first full year. I have always loved Derek and would love him to win too. So…….I guess I’ll just wait and see.

    I either want Melissa or Shawn to win. Honestly I’m tired or he Val and Kelly “sex” thing.
