Anthony Kiedis Hospitalized, Red Hot Chili Peppers Concert Canceled
Anthony Kiedis was hospitalized Saturday night, resulting in the Red Hot Chili Peppers’s concert at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater to be canceled. Kiedis and the band were slated to perform at the KROQ WeenieRoast, but its bassist Flea announced to the audience that the lead singer was rushed to the hospital, and they were “devastated” about not being able to give their fans a concert.
Shortly before the band was slated to hit the stage, Kiedis was taken from the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater in a van to a local hospital with what Gossip Cop is told were “intestinal issues.” Flea simply told the disappointed audience, “Anthony is on his way to the hospital right now and we’re unable to play this evening.”He added, “We are devastated about it. We’re really sad. We love you so much. We live to rock… But unfortunately there’s a medical thing that happened, and he needed to deal with it.”
Neither Kiedis nor the Red Hot Chili Peppers’s official social media accounts initially elaborated on what caused the band to cancel at the very last minute; however, it was later noted the singer is suffering from an intestinal flu. The group was next slated to perform on May 17 in Burbank at the iHeartRadio Theater, but that concert will also be scrapped. Gossip Cop will update as soon as we get more information about Kiedis’s condition.
