Anthony Anderson Tracee Ellis Ross BET Awards Open

Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross opened the 2015 BET Awards with a humorous parody of the song “Conqueror.” Check out the video below.

Anderson and Ross changed the lyrics of the Estelle song, perhaps best known for being on “Empire” with Jussie Smolett, to mock their own careers, the music industry, and the state of black culture. There were references to their show “Black-ish,” Taraji P. Henson, Robin Thicke, Rachel Dolezal, and Ellis Ross’ booty. Throughout it all, the actress was in a harness and amusingly swinging above the stage, while Anderson was pricelessly dressed in a full-body black bodysuit.

Unfortunately, immediately after their musical opening, Anderson lost Best Actor to Terrence Howard. It remains to be seen if Ellis Ross will take home Best Actress. As Gossip Cop reported, the BET Awards honor the best in music, sports and acting. Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj lead all of the nominees, with six nominations each. Other highlights expected on Sunday are the performances by Brown, the cast of “Empire,” and Smokey Robinson. Also, Janet Jackson will receive the first-ever Ultimate Icon: Music Dance Visual award during the show’s telecast.
