The Star breathlessly reports, “Fresh on the heels of Robin Wright Penn’s announcement that she and husband Sean Penn are done for good, Natalie Portman has traded in New York City for Los Angeles.” Huh?

The rag claims its “sources” explain Portman’s cross country move is so that she can “be near” Penn. The Star even goes on to insist that “the two first hooked up last March, shortly before Sean announced he was separating from Robin the first time around.” Not leaving bad enough alone, the weekly quotes an alleged “insider” saying, “Natalie has a huge crush on him, and now that he’s divorcing she can get close to him without feeling guilty.”

Wow, where do we start?

Well, for one, Portman didn’t just move to L.A. She relocated to the West Coast in 2008.

Then, of course, there’s the statement that Portman made this past May, regarding false reports linking her to the Oscar winner: “Sean Penn is a friend and colleague. The reports that we are romantically involved are completely untrue. I normally do not respond to rumors about my private life, however, this repeatedly fabricated story has forced me to do so.”

Need more?

OK, how about that added tidbit about Penn spending time recently in London with Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Jessica White?

There’s always next week, Star.
