Annie, Still Alice, And More Movies Leak After Sony Hacked In Mysterious Attack
Annie and more movies have leaked online after a major security breach of Sony‘s network. The company was hacked last week by a group called the “GOP” or “Guardians of Peace.” The attack crippled Sony’s computer system worldwide, after displaying a creepy message with a skull that promised to release “top secrets.”
While it doesn’t seem any secrets are out, a number of movies are. Annie isn’t set to open until December 19, but is now available online through illegal sharing sites. Fury, which is still in theaters, also leaked, along with the upcoming Kristen-Stewart-Julianne Moore film Still Alice, as well as Mr. Turner and To Write Love On Her Arms. The pirated copies appear to be screeners that were meant to be sent to awards voters, complete with Sony watermarks. Of the leaked films, Fury is reported to be the one downloaded the most so far.
In its original statement on Tuesday, a spokeperson said “Sony Pictures Entertainment experienced a system disruption, which are working diligently to resolve.” But now that the situation has escalated significantly, a rep says, “The theft of Sony Pictures Entertainment content is a criminal matter, and we are working closely with law enforcement to address it.” Gossip Cop will have updates.
