Anne Hathaway to Play Catwoman in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ (CONFIRMED)

Anne Hathaway will play Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises.

She’s been cast as Selina Kyle in the Batman film franchise’s highly anticipated next installment, which is due in theaters on July 20, 2012.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story,” said director Christopher Nolan.

Tom Hardy, who worked with Nolan on Inception, is set for the role of the villain Bane.

“I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies,” announced Nolan.

Christian Bale will return as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

    im probably real late with this question, but are the Bale/Nolan movies supposed to take place before the Michael Keaton, etc versions? Or are they as if the originals never happened?

    I’m not a Batman fan so I can’t answer your question regina1180. However, from what I’ve read, this is a prequeal, but don’t quote me on that.

    Re: Anne Hathaway . . . I don’t think this is the right move for her career. She has gotten good buzz with her last few movies and I think she needs to seek out more upscale roles where she is more the lead star rather than just a pretty woman in a catsuit. I mean, if Anne plays her cards right she could become the next Angelina Jolie . . . the first name on everybody’s lips to play the “tough female” lead. Playing second fiddle to a guy in a batsuit is not the way to go. This is a part for a third-tier actress who needs the boost and PR. Just my opinion.
