Report: Ann Curry to Replace Meredith Vieira on ‘Today’

Ann Curry will reportedly replace Meredith Vieira on the “Today” show, a move that has been expected since it was first reported that Vieira was leaving the show.

NBC is expected to make the official announcement in a press conference today, reports the New York Times.

Curry has been a news anchor on “Today” for 14 years and is very popular with viewers.

Natalie Morales is set to replace Curry as newsreader.

    I find her very cloying and annoying and the only reason I watch the Today Show is Matt Lauer. When Matt Lauer leaves the show so will I.

    Her interviews are seriously annoying….how she lowers her voice and gets so soft and gravely in her throat. It’s like…SPEEK UP! I understand she wants to connect with her subjects but damn….it grates on my nerves!

    I like Ann Curry but I agree — in this role as Co-anchor with Lauer I think she tries too hard to act in a way not natural for her. The way she expresses herself during the various unscripted moments often sounds so forced and fake. I think as a serious news reader/reporter she is fine, but I think the clownish atmosphere of the Today show (the over all tone set up by Lauer and Roker) is a bit anathema to Curry and she struggles to “fit in” with it. Viera also had a problem with this at first, but eventually found her stride that, as of yet, I don’t think Curry hasn’t yet been able to find.
