Ann Curry Reportedly Getting Replaced on Today Show

NBC is reportedly planning to replace Ann Curry just one year after she became co-host on the “Today Show.”

Curry and the network are already discussing an exit and possible new roles for her, according to a report in The New York Times late on Wednesday.

It should be noted that NOTHING has been finalized.

Last spring, Curry, then the show’s news reader, took departing co-host Meredith Vieira’s spot next to Matt Lauer.

Lauer himself just recently signed a multi-year deal to stay with the “Today Show.”

Should Curry depart, it’s not known who would replace her, although colleague Savannah Guthrie’s name is mentioned as a possibility in the Times report.

Gossip Cop has reached out to a rep for the “Today Show” for comment.

    No! I love Ann! She’s one of the best parts of the Today show! I think her,Matt, and the other two girls have really good chemistry. Al is kinda gettin old and is in no way entertaining. Get rid of him. Ann has made the Today show so much lighter and fun. And she at least acts like she really cares about the stories that she interviews people about.

    Matt Lauer is the one who needs to go, he is so arrogant. Ann is an excellent interviewer and conducts always as a lady.

    I really like Ann and think she’s great and agree with you Mac she is an excellent interviewer and conducts herself like a lady, always. When she was pass up after Kayie left and the job was given to Meredith I didn’t like it and thought it was unfair to Ann. But now that I see her and Matt together, in my opinion I don’t think they have chemistry together.

    Matt and Meredith had chemistry and they played off each other. Meredith was quick and had good comebacks. As much as I like Ann and really respect her I don’t see this between her and Matt.

    I am not a huge Matt Lauer fan but NBC will not let him go.

    They won’t let him go because US Weekly is helping him hold his job. He is always confronting somebody with an US Weekly mag. He needs to go work for US Weekly officially.

    When Ann Al & David are together they are the best…… Matt is to stone face…..
    Every since Savannah Guthrie came on the show my husband has said that they were grooming her for Ann’s job, I keep saying that he was crazy—-now I think that he was right……

    I think Ann is an outstanding journalist; however, over the past months I have noticed that her level of confidence have gone way down. I think Matt makes her nervous and it seems like on a lot of occasions she makes a mistake due to this fact. I’ve also noticed that as a result it seems as though she was trying way too hard by seemingly giving up her intergrity and replacing it with the ‘desire’ to fit in (Matt’s World!). So to Ann I say this: keep your head held high, leave with great dignity and class, and grace and know in your own heart that you did a good job. As a faithful viewer, I will miss you. You seem to be a nice person who undoubtedly will land on your feet. God bless.

    This sux! I think Ann is terrific! I always enjoy seeing her. Not so much some of the others, btw. She’s a class act and has been there for a very long time. This doesn’t speak well of NBC, jmho. Hopefully, some other network will snap her up so I can continue to enjoy her broadcasts. Good luck, Ann.

    Anybody that thinks that Ann Curry is terrific is an idiot. The women cant even spit out a thought, and is the most akward person i have ever seen on tv. Why do you think she is getting FIRED!

    I think Ann is “great”, she’s a class act and I like a lot of others will leave the Today Show and I’ve been with them for the most part since i was a kid. Ann seems to empathize with the people she interviews and I think that’s why she has a different style. She talks with people like most of us do not just reading from a script. I too think Matt intimidates her and she wants to please because that’s her way. She’s done all that NBC has asked of her and THIS is how they treat her? I don’t want to hear it’s all about business, even a business should have some “humanity”….but I’ve come to not expect that from most business organizations…SAD!!

    I thought it was great when they finally gave Ann the anchor spot…it was her opportunity to prove herself…sink or swim if you will. I like Ann but in my book she sank. She lacks the self confidence and makes it very uncomfortable more me as a viewer. Each segway to or from makes me nervous, each spot she has for more than a moment, I wonder how she’ll do. It actually distracts me from what she is saying… to HOW she is saying it or if she’ll say it flawlessly or not. She had her shot…unfortunately she couldn’t cut it. There are many other people who can easily fill her spot and quickly bring back the reason we tune in to watch and listen to the stories they are paid to broadcast. My vote would be Natalie. She and Matt already have a great chemistry and she has the quick mind for some terrific banter between them. Good luck to you Ann Curry.

    I really like Anne Curry and I was shocked to hear the network wanted to replace her. Are they getting rid of her because of Matt Lauer not liking her…. She is a lovely woman and I hope NBC rethinks this. Or better yet, another network grabs her.

    Really… i think she’s awful… i just want her to shut up most of the time. the fake compassion just about takes me over the top…akkkk…. i will be so happy she is gone. can’t stand the show once she was co-anchor!

    I loved Matt at one time; not anymore. He is biased and shows it blatantly. I absolutely love Ann Curry. She is the “one” truly asset to Today. If she goes, so do I. Screw NBC. I “will” watch ABC. Then the 4th hour is lost also; even tho I love the show. Go Ann Curry. You’re a doll. Screw NBC; they’re idiots. What a heart, Ann couldn’t even enjoy winning the Emmys.

    Started watching Today from the beginning while I was in elementary school. Have watched Ann grow and become a kind, concerned genuine interviewer, plus, very gutsy on special assignments and international reporting. A few months ago Matt grilled Ryan O’Neil with rude and intimidating personal questions, when the man was obviously ill. That was the day Today lost me as a viewer. It was tough to ‘leave’ Ann and the show that I had watched for 60 years. Today has not played on my TV since.

    If Ann leaves the show, I will stop watching. Ann is doing a wonderful job. Meredith sucked, I was happy to see her go. She was phony and overly friendly from day one. Leave Ann alone. If you want to improve the show, have less segments and allow the guest to finish, cooking, talking, or whatever they are on the show for. You rush the guest to get to the next segment.

    Ann Curry has a good heart and is honest and full of passion for what she does, but she is dominant and pushy and just didn’t play well with the other anchors (chemistry). But as a whole I’m tired of main stream media and there hollow stories. Actually Al Jazeera is a great news network, and thank god for NPR.
