REPORT: Today Show’s Ann Curry Guaranteed $10 Million A Year If Fired

If Ann Curry does, in fact, get fired from the “Today” show, she’ll be laughing all the way to the bank.

The NBC host reportedly signed a three-year contract with the network last year, guaranteeing her $10 million annually.

So basically, NBC owes her $20 million over the next two years — no matter what.

According to TMZ, Curry will get the axe from “Today” next week, and will likely assume a new position as a foreign correspondent for NBC News.

Curry joined the morning show as a co-host last year when Meredith Vieira departed.

Gossip Cop has reached out to a rep for “Today” about Curry’s reported departure, but has yet to hear back.

    What ashame this happened. I know she’ll walk away with a whole lot of money (good for you Ann) but I am thinking this has to be somewhat sad for her since this was a dream job to be c-anchor of the Today Show.

    I agree with another poster from the previous thread that the Today show need a new style. As much as I like Ann when I watched her and Matt, there were no chemistry, no spark, no light banter, no fun between them. GMA crew all have chemistry with lots of laughs and fun.

    Ann deserves better and hopefully from this shameful act by NBC she will end up with a great position. All the best Ann Curry.

    Why people would refer to this as a ‘shameful act’ by NBC is amazing!! She was given the opportunity and she just doesn’t have what it takes.Too many people dislike her work, and not enough people like her. This is a business move, and NBC made a mistake is and now fixing it before they fall too far behind GMA. Ann is a sweet person, but she lacks wit that Katie, Jane Pauly, and Meredith have to succeed at that position. Quite simple really …

    Whether or not Ann is a good person is not the point. She has no chemistry with Matt Lauer and never did have… I was in shock when they replaced Meredith Viera with her and could not understand why. Her political interviews made me turn off the TV . She has no sense of humor and frequently talks over others never really having a sense of when to just shut up…a sign of insecurity to be sure. Savannah Guthrie or Natalie Morales on the other hand are great.I think Hoda Cotbe would really fill the bill…absolutely adore her and will send an email to NBC re this after I am sure I am spelling her name correctly.

    she is boring, I stopped watching it and started watchig GMA. I can’t stand the way she dresses. she and matt have no chemistry, The show has to do what is best for the show

    i don’t care necessarily how she dresses but she drives me NUTS with her stammering… she is the WORST… i love it when she isn’t there and natalie fills in… i’m only HOPING the new is true that she’s gone… now….. i might watch the today show again…

    I never liked Ann Curry. Too sweet and her interviews are too wishy washy boring. I watch GMA now and I love the people on the show. They all look like they really care about each other. Robin Roberts is wonderful and I like George, Josh, and Sam. I won’t go back to the Today show. But I would hate to see the team of Hoda and Kathie Lee break up. Them I do watch at 11am

    Sorry, Savannah Guthrie, Natalie Morales or Hoda Kotbe are good at their present jobs, however, I do not agree they would make a good co-anchor with Matt Lauer. Katie Couric is hard to replace. I did not care for Meridith Viera, she was too giddy!

    I agree. I’ve always loved Ann Curry. She seems like a really nice person who cares and does great interviews. She does not seem to be a fake. She was one of the reasons I always would choose NBC over the other morning shows. It’s ridiculous NBC executives are trying to blame her for their own bad decision making. They change too much and people tend to look elsewhere and evidently start liking another show better. Now they’re doing that again so more than likely will lose more viewers. I watched when Ann did only the news and always thought she would be a great cohost. I think I was right. Anyway if the executives are dumb enough to let her go, maybe she should look elsewhere. Ther are other morning shows that might appreciate her a lot more. Good luck Ann. You are the best.

    Ann Curry is a great news reporter, not a hostess. Katie Couric is not good at news reporting,, is OK as a host. Do what you are good at, I got demoted once and it was the right thing to do.

    glad ann curry is leaving. i am so tired of her talking too fast, falling over her words and she is just too sappy. she does make a good reporter. may start watching today again. hope ms quthrie is in, natalie tries too hard to be cool.

    Ann Curry is just as deserving of $10 Million as anyone else in that business; however, nobody, I mean nobody needs $ 10 Million a year – unless they work for only a couple of years.

    I think that Ann Curry outclassed Matt, Katie Couric, and Meridith as a news reporter. She was profesional, and I’ll bet that Mr. Lauers signing his contract was at the back of her dismissal She threatened him because she was a true professional. He didn’t want someone who could report the news better than he did. He just wanted a piece of fluff beside him. I truely admired Ms. Curry and thought she reported the news accurately and professionally…. Call me a woman’s libber but she reported the news – she wasn’t just there to look pretty….I wish they would have fired him and replaced him with a guy with more hair that was good to look at and was funny – I’ll take Ann any day over him. If they need some fluff – let it be a man for a change.

    I watched Today 98 percent of the time because of Ann. I think she is smart, quick, sensitive and a very good interviewer. She brought in her very own style and class and if the execs at NBC are too out of touch to realize this mistake then shame on them. Its very obvious that they sought out a ‘cookie cutter’ image of Katie by replacing Savannah with Ann but I believe they will live to regret it. And while they are still in their drunken stupor, why don’t they make another terrible decision and replace Savannah with Al Roker?! I simply adore Robin Roberts (especially with Diane Sawyer) so will simply switch to GMA, period.

    Ann it is a shame that in this land we call the the free you can be yourself and report the truth people say you did not get mix with the morning team but they will see they made a big mistake by letting you go I have watch the show for years and have always enjoyed what you reported,the way you did it the class about yourself nothing was wrong with what you did Ann just keep your head to the sky you know there is a higher power and stay true to Ann i will miss you very much did get to see you last nite thanks you smile and walk on thru this you will forever be in my prays
