This really has nothing to do with Angelina Jolie, it is just an excuse to trash an accomplished woman. Tabloids are written by women for women. Most creepy stories are about women, not men. PItt has nothing to do with this. Just look on any cover. There is always a woman–jealous, crazy, man crazy, fat, skinny, drug addicted, bad pregnancy or hoping for a baby or depressed–never women with accomplishments. Clearly In Touch has an unhealthy obsession with Angelina. She’s not responsible for the economy, global warming or the wars around the world. The only people who have the right to judge her are those six little people to whom she’s a mother. Everyone else needs to step off. She is not forcing anyone to write about her nor is she forcing anyone to watch her movies.

Answer me this In Touch, would you be as vicious in your coverage of say, Robert Downey, Jr? He’s someone who’s had a very public battle with drug addiction and his inner demons. Why is it that other public figures who’ve had missteps in their youth are allowed second chances, yet Angelina’s past is forever held over her head to be loudly broadcast over and over again? Why can’t she be given the same consideration that others have received? The tabloids have managed to dehumanize her to such an extent that her name is synonymous with the boogeyman.

It is almost impossible in the U.S. to win a slander or libel suit. The burden of proof is on the person filing the suit and not on the person telling the lies. It’s so much easier to sue in the UK. I don’t know about other European countries. Over the years, several stars have filed suits against various rags (Carole Burnett against the National Enquirer comes to mind) but it takes a toll and costs a lot of money and even if the celebrity wins the jury might only give them a token amount of money when it probably would cost the celebrity close to a million.

Also, these rags would LOVE it if a superstar like Angelina Jolie sued them. It would mean free publicity in the national media. But the U.S. rags know that Angelina will totally ignore them, as she has always done. I only remember one suit she and Brad have filed and that was in the UK against the late News of the World (which they won).

I agree that it is almost impossible to win a libel suit in the US and it definitely draws undeserved attention to the ‘rags’…..but how I wish Brad and Angie could cause them some grief by defending themselves against the crap that is written about them. First of all, lots of parents call a babysitter and have themselves a date night. Things shouldn’t be any different for Brad & Angelina. So what if the kids were locked up in the hotel. The key point is that they had supervision. Its the same as a couple of parents that call for a babysitter and then go out. Yes lets keep them inside an unlocked hotel room without supervision and see what happens.
No where in this article has it said that Angelina has ever left the kids un-supervised even when she did her daily workout routine. Good for her that she needs to get away from life for a couple of hours and keep herself in shape.
