Angelina Jolie says rich and famous mothers shouldn’t complain when there are other women in the world struggling to raise their children.

“I’m not a single mom with two jobs trying to get by every day,” the mother of six explains to the New York Daily News. “I have much more support than most people, most women in this world. And I have the financial means to have a home and health care and food.”

“When I feel I’m doing too much, I do less, if I can,” she adds. “And that’s why I’m in a rare position where I don’t have to do job after job. I can take time when my family needs it.”

While Jolie is aware of her good fortune, fellow actress Gwyneth Paltrow was famously quoted as saying motherhood is “much harder for me.”

“I think it’s different when you have an office job, because it’s routine and, you know, you can do all the stuff in the morning and then you come home in the evening,” Paltrow explained in March. “When you’re shooting a movie, they’re like, ‘We need you to go to Wisconsin for two weeks,’ and then you work 14 hours a day and that part of it is very difficult.”

Paltrow later went on to defend her controversial comments, but Jolie firmly disagrees with her reasoning.

“I actually feel that women in my position, when we have all at our disposal to help us, shouldn’t complain,” says Jolie. “Consider all the people who really struggle and don’t have the financial means, don’t have the support, and many people are single raising children. That’s hard.”
