Angelina Jolie NOT Teaching At Georgetown, Despite Report
Angelina Jolie is NOT teaching At Georgetown, despite a new tabloid report. Gossip Cop can correct this false claim.
According to Us Weekly, in addition to being a visiting professor at the London School of Economics in the fall, the actress “will do the same guest spot at Georgetown University.” The tabloid notes that even though Jolie did not go to college, as a professor at Georgetown in Washington, D.C., she’ll “share her knowledge in lectures, workshops and research focused on women, peace and security.”
While the magazine further quotes Jolie as saying, “I am looking forward to teaching and learning from the students, as well as to sharing my own experiences of working alongside governments and the United Nations,” the actress was actually only discussing her visiting professorship at the London School of Economics. Still, the tabloid included a quotation from Melanne Verveer, who runs the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security, in which she said, “I was pleased to meet with Angelina Jolie during my recent trip to London on ways we at Georgetown University can continue the collaboration between our sister programs on both sides of the Atlantic.”
But there’s no firm commitment on Jolie’s part. Vermeer simply expressed the hope that Georgetown would welcome the Hollywood star to the prestigious college sometime “in the future.” And even though Georgetown would love to have her as a visiting professor, a spokesperson for the university says, “We enjoy a partnership with the London School of Economics,” but there are “no current plans for Ms. Jolie to teach at Georgetown.” Looks like Us Weekly got schooled here.
