Angelina Jolie: Don’t Want Acting “Center” Of My Kids’ Lives, Not A “Healthy Focus”
Angelina Jolie, who stars in the title role of Maleficent, reveals it wasn’t easy getting her daughter Vivienne to play the young Princess Aurora.
She also says she doesn’t want her kids to make acting the “focus” of their lives.
Jolie told journalists, “The first day was the day [Vivienne] had to catch the butterfly, and she just really didn’t feel like doing it,”
She goes on to describe how the whole family pitched in to get Vivienne to do her first scene.
“I actually was holding the pole with the ball on the end and bouncing up and down and dancing, trying to make her laugh, and Daddy [Brad Pitt] was on the edge of the cliff she had to jump off, making faces and all her brothers and sisters were egging her on,” recalled Jolie.
“She eventually did it but she was taking her sweet time and not wanting to do it twice, certainly,” noted the Oscar winner, who added they rehearsed at home.
“When we did it together, we had a good time, we played together,” said Jolie. “I was actually shocked that she was doing so well… she went back and hit her mark! It’s frightening.”
Still, Jolie and Pitt are not encouraging their kids to go into acting.
“I want them to do it for fun only, and when they get older, if they decide to be actors, I would just ask that that’s not the center of their lives,” said Jolie, who wants them to be “involved in many other things,” and reiterated, “I don’t think it’s a healthy focus as the center of your life.”
Two of Jolie’s other kids, Zahara and Pax are also in Maleficent, but have small roles.
