Angelina Jolie in Talks to Direct Fifty Shades of Grey?

Truth rating: 2

Rumors are swirling that Angelina Jolie is in talks for Fifty Shades of Grey — but not to play the female lead.

According to reports, Universal Pictures has its eye on Jolie as a potential director for the upcoming movie version of E L James’ erotic bestseller.

Gossip Cop hears, however, that the star, who helmed last year’s drama In The Land Of Blood And Honey, has NOT been formally approached.

Jolie is currently working (as an actor) on the highly-anticipated Disney film, Maleficent, and it’s likely someone else will wind up being tasked with the Fifty Shades of Grey adaptation.

If any conversations have been had about the Fifty Shades directing gig — they have not been formal talks or negotiations with Jolie.

Just like with the wild — but largely speculative — recent casting rumors about the highly anticipated project, Gossip Cop expects director rumors to heat up as the summer progresses.

Gossip Cop will have updates whenever talks — with Jolie or anyone else — become serious.

I don’t believe this. I don’t think Angelina’s interest is directing movies like this.

Agreed, have they forgotten how her last directing job turned out. After all attaching a celebrity name to a project does not mean success.

I doubt she even knows about this book
She reads non fictio n dont follow pop culture

I think the people who are producing this movie are just throwing out names of people they want in order to get buzz (and possibly money) for this film. As someone said, how would Angelina even know about this book since she admittedly doesn’t follow pop culture and she only reads high brow fiction, if at all. “Fifty” is definitely NOT high brow. In fact, the book would be a tough read for anyone with even half a brain as the writing borders on illiterate.

What do you mean “how her last directing job turned out”??

  • Danny

What do you mean? The Land of Blood and Honey was a good movie. And for the type of movie it was, along with it’s limited release, it did good.

  • Regina1180

How do these rumors even start?

  • lol

*snort* Next thing we know, they’ll be saying Queen Elizabeth is directing and William starring as Christian Grey. Yea…. np.

  • Janet

Don’t do it, Angie. The book stinks to high heaven. I hope they never make it into a movie.

next time we will see One Direction starring in Fifty Shades of Grey?

oh pLEEEEEEASE…what a bunch of tripe, AJ would never lower herself to that level. AJ has some semblance of feminism and morals protecting people, why in the hell would she even touch something as atrocious as FSOG? Its such a degrading book and I feel robbed of the time I wasted reading that garbage on the preface of recommendations from a sad example of society’s propaganda that led me to that road. If I can do anything these days, its to warn others not to put this junk into their heads, this novel is an embarassment to writing and women, its lower than pondscum.

    Universal is seeking Angelina out.
So “In The Land Of Blood And Honey” certainly made an impact on them.
I have seen the film and thought it was well directed.
There was limited release on that film passed down from our president that is how much impact he believed it would have on politics…thus having Ms.Jolie escorted to the White House to discuss it’s opening in Washington D.C. amongst other cities.
She is a fine director and actress.
She has transended both beauty and fame and remains equally generous.
As far as success goes Angelina has far proven she is a tremendous success in most every aspect of life.

You’re probably right. Anyway, this thing is nothing but a cheap Twilight rip-off. She wouldn’y want to ruin her career with such stuff

  • Janet

This shouldn’t even rate a 2. It should rate a zero. The studio behind the movie said the rumor is completely false.

Please say it isn’t so. I’d like to see these books made into a movie, but not with her directing them. Let her stick to acting.

She did very VERY well for her first ever attempt at Directing. And for a limited release. Got rave reviews. Not sure where you got your info from but she did very well for her first go.
