Angelina Jolie: Donald Trump Muslim Comments Are “Hard To Hear”
Jolie, who delivered a speech in London as a representative for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, first responded to Trump’s proposal to temporarily ban all Muslim immigrants from entering the United States. “To me, America is built on people from around the world coming together for freedoms, especially freedom of religion,” the actress said. “So it’s hard to hear this is coming from someone who is pressing to be an American president.”
Jolie further insisted the Syrian refugee crisis was “that once-in-a-generation moment when nations have to pull together” in order to provide aide and shelter for the millions of displaced people. The actress also expressed her belief that many nations have an unreasonable “fear” of migrants, which is one of the reasons efforts to support them have been “drastically underfunded.”
As Gossip Cop has reported, Jolie joins the ranks of multiple celebrities who’ve voiced their disapproval of Trump and his political viewpoints. A few other notable stars who recently slammed the presumptive Republican nominee include George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Alec Baldwin, Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Lawrence, all of whom used far harsher adjectives to describe Trump than Jolie did.
