Angelina Jolie Did NOT Cancel ‘Tomb Raider’ Reboot Cameo, Despite Late And Wrong Report
Angelina Jolie did NOT drop out of a cameo in the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot because she’s upset about Alicia Vikander being cast as Lara Croft, despite a late and wrong tabloid report. Gossip Cop can once again debunk this claim. We’re told it’s not true.
Jolie, of course, starred in the original 2001 film and its 2003 sequel, but now Vikander will take over the actress’s role for a new installment. A so-called “source,” however, tells OK! that Jolie “made her disapproval of the choice clear, hours after Alicia was cast last spring.” The outlet’s dubious insider adds, “Angie told the studio she was backing out of a planned cameo. She tries to make it seem like she’s just looking out for the franchise, but it’s obvious she’s jealous about the buzz surrounding Alicia right now.”
If this story sounds familiar, it’s because Gossip Cop already busted it when OK!’s sister publication, Star, made the same bogus claim last month. The tabloid wrongly reported that Jolie was angry about Vikander starring in the new Tomb Raider, but a source close to Jolie told us the actress “turned down the opportunity long ago to resume her role as Lara Croft” and “was never planning on a cameo.” Despite the outlet’s insistence on regurgitating this phony tale, Jolie has no issue with Vikander taking on her role.
