MAG: Angelina Jolie Threatens to Call Off Wedding Because of Jane Pitt’s Politics

“Angelina Jolie is ready to call off her wedding to fiancé Brad Pitt over an anti-gay letter his mother sent to a local newspaper,” reports the National Enquirer.

The tabloid recounts how Jane Pitt wrote a letter to the News-Leader of Springfield, Missouri opposing same-sex marriage and abortion, and expressing support for Mitt Romney over President Obama in November’s election.

As the Enquirer rightly points out, those conservative opinions “stand in stark contrast” to those of her famous son and his bride-to-be.

And that’s where the magazine breaks free from reality.

“Angie told Brad that he better talk to his mom immediately and straighten her out… or else the wedding is off!” a so-called “source” tells the Enquirer.

Um… what?

“Another insider” explains that Jolie’s “greatest concern” is that Jane Pitt will treat the couple’s six-year-old daughter Shiloh “differently” than the couple’s other five kids “because Shiloh acts like a tomboy.”

Hold on a second.

Jolie is threatening to call off her wedding because she’s worried Jane Pitt will mistreat Shiloh?

Our minds are sufficiently boggled by how absurd this all is.

The Enquirer has been wrong about Jolie and Pitt SO often, and in SO many different ways (in just the last couple of weeks alone), we’re surprised when the supermarket tab finds a fresh angle to mess up.

Jane Pitt expressed her personal beliefs in a letter to the local newspaper.

Period.

Jolie’s own father, Jon Voight, has views that differ from his daughter and her fiancé.

No one is calling off the wedding due to politics.

We’re not sure if this is the Enquirer’s lame attempt to explain why its own “wedding plans” for the couple were totally bogus, but suggesting that Jane Pitt has an issue with her granddaughter Shiloh is about as ridiculous as the mag has ever sounded — and that’s saying something.

A source close to the family calls the tabloid’s story “100% fabrication.”

    Her letter pretty much proves she will have an issue with Shiloh if she turns out lesbian. Angelina should distance her kids from bigot granny.

    If Brad Pitt was willing to marry her knowing her father’s politics, then this story makes her look rather petty. Can’t say it is OK for my family to be crazy, but not yours. This story is silly.

    I don’t understand the logic of the story. If Angelina doesn’t marry Brad, wouldn’t Jane Pitt still be Shiloh’s grandmother? And isn’t making assumptions about a 6 year olds sexuality jumping the gun abit. There are a lot of tomboys who grow up to be full blooded heterosexuals and plenty of girly girls who grow up to be homosexual.

    I would not even step into that Arena. Pretty huge ASSumption on your part in reference to their child. Some of the worlds most beautiful,sexy woman have gone on from being a tomboy in their lives to living happy hextrosexual lives with children and their husbands.
    Try and leave their child out of this…such a weak thing to reach for.

    Just because you are not in favor of gay marriage does NOT mean that you hate gays! I have friends who are gay and are not in favor of gay marriage. If Angelina doesn’t marry Brad because what his mother said than he is better off staying single. What happen to freedom of speech? I guess that only applies if it’s something YOU agree with!!!

    No, a nutcase and dirtbag is somebody who hates people over believing false accusations and lies. They do deserve each other because they are extraordinary people.

    Why do the tabloids have to draw the children into it? How can you make presumptions about a child’s sexuality at this early stage?

    I highly doubt their parent’s political beliefs would affect their relationship since Brad and Angelina do support same-sex marriage and share the same views. It is what your partner feels that matters, not their parents. Besides, she already knew about his parent’s feelings as well as her own father’s on certain political issues. A person can also disagree with their parents but still love them. The media is blowing this into a bigger deal when there already has been tons of backlash.

    This is hogwash!! Angelina’s father is just as conservative as Brad’s mother; that’s probably one of the things that drew Angie and Brad together . . . crazy parents!! Angelina is also a very intelligent woman and she would not insist that someone change their views to satisfy her. She understands that not all people are alike. Also, I believe that people have zero idea what Angelina Jolie’s politics are. She has never said if she was a Dem or a Repub nor has she given her thoughts on much of anything political. She has to remain fairly neutral politically given her position with the UN.
