Andy Samberg will host the Emmy Awards on September 20, 2015. The announcement was made on Thursday. Samberg stars on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” which airs on Fox, the network carrying this year’s Emmys.

“Buckle your seat belts, Emmy viewers!” Samberg said in a statement. “Like, in general you should buckle your seat belts in your car. In fact, even if you’re not an Emmy viewer, you should buckle your seat belt. It can be dangerous on the road. Also, if you’re not an Emmy viewer, you should strongly consider becoming one this year, because I’m hosting, and it’s gonna be a wild ride. So buckle your seat belts.” Indeed. We will.

Academy of Television Arts & Scienes chairman and CEO Bruce Rosenblum said in his own statement, “It’s wonderfully fitting that we have Andy Samberg, an Emmy Award winner himself, as our host for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards. Andy has excelled in all aspects of the television universe, both from behind and in front of the camera.”

The nominees for the Emmys will be announced on July 16. Seth Meyers hosted last year’s awards. Are you excited to see his old “Saturday Night Live” pal Andy Samberg take over as host of the 2015 Emmys?
