Andy Cohen: I Did NOT Call Amandla Stenberg A “Jackhole”
Andy Cohen is slamming reports he called Hunger Games actress Amandla Stenberg a “jackhole” on Monday’s “Watch What Happens Live.” Cohen took to Twitter on Tuesday to explain that his comment was in reference to the “online feud” between Stenberg and Kylie Jenner over the reality TV star’s cornrows and not directed at the actress.
Shortly after Cohen’s show aired, the Twitter hashtag “#BoycottBravo” started to trend with many people bashing the TV host and his special guests “Orange Is The New Black” star Laverne Cox and Vogue Editor-at-Large Andre Leon Talley, for giving Stenberg the label “Jackhole of the day.”
“Today’s Jackhole goes to the Instagram feud between Kylie Jenner and Hunger Games star/Jaden Smith’s prom date Amandla Stenberg who criticized Kylie for her cornrows, calling it cultural appropriation,” said Cohen, adding, “White girls in cornrows… is it OK or nay, Laverne and Andre?” Talley responded saying that he thought it was “fine,” while Cox said, “Ummm… Bo Derek,” referring to the actress wearing cornrows during her 1979 movie 10.
As Gossip Cop noted, Cohen responded to the backlash he received tweeting, “To clarify, I gave the jackhole to an online feud & certainly not to the topic or to any individual. I ironically hate online feuds.” He later added in another tweet, “I want to apologize to Amandla. I didn’t understand the larger context of this cultural discussion and TRULY meant no disrespect to her or anyone else.”
