Amy Winehouse‘s mom, Janis, said last night that her drug-addicted daughter’s death was “only a matter of time.”

Janis had visited with Winehouse just 24 hours earlier.

The singer’s mom noted that the “Rehab” singer had ”seemed out of it. But her passing so suddenly still hasn’t hit me.”

Janis said she’ll now always remember her daughter saying, “I love you mum,” the day before she died.

“They are the words I will always treasure,” she said. “I’m glad I saw her when I did.”

Yesterday, a slew of celebrites reacted to Winehouse’s death on Twitter.

At least she’s being honest, that sentiment of “It was “only a matter of time.” one shared by the majority all over the world. That is not to say that we didn’t hope against all hope that she would prove us all wrong and turn her life around..
but yes, we all knew, given her condition, it was only a matter of time. It’s time for her to finally be at peace.

I wish her parents could have done more, but then again, Amy was an adult.

No sense trying to blame anyone but Amy herself and the disease. Her parents DID try – again and again – to the point where it caused bitter rifts in the relationship with their daughter. I still have images of their faces, particularly the father, coming out of court after one episode. Desperate and grief-ridden, the both of them. This has to be the bitterest of pills for any parent. As you say, Amy was an adult, responsible for herself, and nothing the parents of anyone else could do without court intervention, which didn’t happen.

i agree with everybody here . she was an adult after all .But its hard to loose a gifted artist like her, when i first heard her songs from the Frank album . i said this is the best jazz performer from the last 20 maybe 30 years .
