Drug Fixer: I Helped Amy Winehouse Buy Crack & Heroin Night Before Death
9:47 am, August 1st, 2011
Amy Winehouse allegedly bought crack cocaine and heroin the night before she died, claims a drug “fixer” who says he set up the deal.
Police officials are scheduled to interview Tony Azzopardi, who claims the singer approached him outside a pub late on July 22 and asked him to arrange a drug transaction.
According to his version of events, Azzopardi and Winehouse met with a dealer named “Mr. Big” and purchased about £1,200 (or $2,000) for half an ounce of heroin and half an ounce of crack.
“I want Amy’s family to know the truth about what happened,” says Azzopardi. “I want to help them out – but I’m worried about my safety,” referring to possible reprisals from the dealer and his associates.
Winehouse’s family, however, does not believe Azzopardi’s account lines up with what actually happened.
It’s important to note that authorities have not found evidence of drugs or drug use in Winehouse’s apartment, where she was found the following afternoon.
Gossip Cop is looking into Azzopardi’s claims.
An initial autopsy failed to determine what caused the 27-year-old singer’s death.
